  1. 1. How will England do at the World Cup?

    • They'll win the thing
    • They'll lose in the final
    • They'll lose on the way to the final (on penalties as per usual)
    • They'll go out in the group stage

I think they'll lose against Brazil in the semis.

Looks to be the only person who's looked at a wall chart to see how it'll pan out.

They'll win the group.

Assumung Germany win their group, they'll beat Ghana / Serbia / Australia, although I can see them making hard work of it.

Assuming Argentina win Group B, I'd back them to beat anybody else from Groups A or B in the Quater Finals. France would obviousley be the toughest game but they seem to be broken at the moment & I'd back England to beat them.

The semi's should then leave them against Brazil or Holland. I think Brazil would beat England but I think England would beat the Dutch.

I think whoever the other Semi would be (I'm guessing at Argentina v Spain), would beat England in the Final.

Basically, anything less than the Semi's should be seen as a failure.

A very hit and miss team

Only uk Media thinks Rooney is a world class player, esp on his own up front.

Gerald and lampshit cannot play together, 6 years and its still fails.

Rio and Mong will fuck it up, they are fropped up at club level by playing alongside BETTER cbs

Biggest weakness is goalkeeper. You cannot win a tourney without a very good keeper, and we not have than confidence

Starting 8 of james cole rio mong johnson gerald lampshit rooney all bankers the other 3 is anyones guess. No width, no balance no chance

QF at best

I think they'll win their group, probably face Serbia, then France - both teams I fancy them to beat.

I think they'll lose to Spain in the semi final.

I always fancy England to win. They are my 2nd (after my home-country Slovakia) favourite team for me already for 20 years now.

Slovaks are there, it´s great, but we don´t have many chances to come very far, so I fancy England to win the thing.

But if the squad is as it´ll be then Fabio made a big mistake with Darren Bent, who is better than Heskey and Defoe and should have been there automaticaly with Rooney and Crouchie as a 3rd choice striker.

And Scott Parker is also better than Barry or Carrick.

Bent's a strange one, he's undoubtedly better in the league than Heskey or Defoe, or at least scores more goals than Defoe, but as soon as he goes near the international team he's nowhere to be found. I suppose it's the difference between having a team set up around you and just being a bit part player.

I think that the current squad is a top 8/borderline top 4 one, i.e. pretty much like every other squad we've sent to a World Cup since 1990.

The draw most likely has us playing Serbia or Ghana in the first KO round, which we should win, and then most likely France in the Qtrs, although France could easily implode completely and go out. Either way, we are unlikely to meet a 'definitely better than England' team until the semis - most likely Brazil.

Can't see things progressing further than that. Anything other than a semi-final appearance will be under achievement, anything more would be an over achievement.

The quaters for me as well and on pens. I know it's a bit of a standing joke, but I didn't realise how bad at them we are. As this 2010 World Cup blog points out we've only lost one knock out game in a major tournament in the last 20 years, but have suffered five defeats on pens.

We'll not win the thing until we learn how to pass and keep the ball, instead of chasing around the pitch to try and get it back.

I hope we win it, if only to piss off the bitter anti England brigade.

I'm with you on this. I suppose I can understand apathy towards the national team, but some of the anti-England bollocks that regularly gets trotted out on here is cringeworthy. I hope we win it, and I hope Spain get fucked right up the arse in the group stage.

They'll go out on pens in the quarters or semis. And I dearly hope that the vital pen is to be taken by Carra, and he walks up, clearly states "I'm fucked off with this shite" and toe pokes it back to the half way line and walks away laughing.

I don't think Carra will be playing so you're out of luck.
