Why tell the world that we are after him ? will that not push the price up ?

I never understood this reasoning. The selling club (who set the price) are going to know we are interested regardless, right? It's not like we sneak up on the other club and steal him away at night and then pay a nominal amount after we have kidnapped him.

Thinking logically, if two rival clubs are serious in bidding for the same player, then they will be aware of competing offers, because the selling club will inform them. The information going public does nothing to change this. In fact, going public could be beneficial in that it will scare away clubs who aren't prepared to compete with us right at the start, and thus free up negotiations.

Not convinced. Just feel that he;'s been talked about for so long as a potential signing for various top clubs around Europe, yet no-one has made that push to get him.

Do think he's a bona fide natural goalscorer at the very least though so he'll definitely improve the squad. Just not sure how he'll adapt to the English game and where he fits in with Torres being the focal point of our attack.

Not that its going to happen anyway.

Suarez would be a very good foil for Torres who is far too isolated playing up front on his own.

Or he would be equally effective outside either left or right Stevie.

I can see Kenny sticking with 4141 till the end of the season purely because our centre midfield is quite unbalanced when Gerrard plays in there. I think we need someone really top class defensively who is mobile aswell (like a de Jong or Mascherano) to get the best out of Gerrard in a 4 man midfield. Lucas and Meireles on their own don't compliment Gerrard at all.

Longer term though with the right players on place Torres and Suarez could be lethal

.

Agree, if we get him then I'm asking why United, Chelsea, Arsenal, Barca, Madrid, Bayern, Inter, AC et al weren't also at the races for him.

The phrase 'screw loose' comes to mind, he's got a bit of colourful history with regards to suspensions and cards picked up. Not sure how he'd like to be followed around the pitch by Karl Henry for 90 minutes, liable to explode.

The great thing about Suarez is he can play different positions and be top class in all of them. He could easily play any of a three behind Torres. He could also play up top, a really really good signing if it happens.

Goalie being one of 'em.

Versatile forward from the Dutch league......

Now, when did we last sign a player, sorry, a couple of players like that?

Most of them weren't after Torres or Alonso or Mascherano. The Mancs had shown interest in the first two, but never thought it worth following up.
