Can't somebody stop the prick from starting new threads?

play the ball Dave,

this thread has potential.

I think there are potentially a crop of decent teams emerging, but Chelsea shouldn't be written off at all. They'll dump Grant in the summer unless they win the league or CL and probably get in one of the manager we might be after (Hiddink/Riijkard).

Spurs and Villa would be my dark horses to seriously push on and break up the big 4

Why do people think he will get rid of Grant? There is no way Grant won't get another season. Roman is close to the Isreali football association and he won't want to upset them by not giving Grant a proper go. Grant is here to stay thank God.

I think Chelsea could slip further back, Grant already has a shit record against the top teams, whereas Mourinho was virtually unbeatable by the other top 4 in the league.

To be fair, their defending was even worse ;) They created more themselves than we did.....

Well, according to Sky we had 13 chances, they had 5, we had 58.5% possession and they had 41.5%. I'd say we were the team doing the most attacking. We were poor but we were trying to attack. They didn't create more than we did.

Wasnt there supposed to have been a meeting either after the Barnsley game or on the Sunday where Rafa laid it on the line a bit and said he is going to stop rotating and its up to the players to play for the team.

Probably all bollcoks but though id read it somewhere.

he only rotates when there's 2 games in a week or with the international shite going on earlier in the season, you saw why at the weekend where an unchanged team looked jaded, this also happened after we battered the turks and fulham held the unchanged side until Torres came on who was coming back from injury at the time

I can understand why people see Spurs as a real threat to us. They are a joy to watch these days AND they get results. The same can be said about Villa but I don`t see them challenging the top 4 yet.

Both teams play attractive football, we do it very seldom. And yes, that bothers me. Of course results are most important, but I am tired of hearing people (rightly) criticise our style of play. It won`t bring us many new fans which in turn can have a damaging effect on our potential income from fans/merchandise throughout the globe.

A combination of attractive football and good results will do nicely, thank you.

The thing with liverpool is that their fans are more fickle than ours, they expect to win trophies AND play good football. They hounded out Rafa Benitez (the last man to win a trophy for them) so it will be interesting to see what happens down at the lane. Their manager seems to specialise in cup competitions as he did at ?????? but he did do very well in challenging for the league with ??????/ too so maybe he can turn liverpool around. He is a superb manager but again he won't have faced opponents as formiddable as Ferguson and Wenger in Spain.

Ilike what ya did there.

Have you watched Villa lately?

just to qualify he rotates when there's 2-3 games in a short space of time i.e 7 days

I expect to see more rotation in the league if we get through to the quarters, we'll have the fuckin Derby before the quarter final leg if we get past Inter, followed by the CL quarter followed by blackburn at home (i think) followed by the quarter 2nd leg, so expect some rotation in the league around these times, just hope it doesn't cost us points or we be clever about it

Next season when we’re no longer challenging for the title and Mr Parry announces the new stadium cannot be build according to plans, I predict uproar. More than 1000 fans will stay behind at the Kop after a game protesting. Songs will be sung to get the owners out, only not during match time. Some very angry fans even talk about a boycott. Not an all out match boycott as that would never work, but a pie and sausage boycott inside the ground to really hurt the owners in their pockets.

On this site we’ll have daily updates of a Corean/Indian consortium who’s on the brink of buying us for 1,5 billion sterling. From the same poster we’ll be made aware on a daily basis he wants our new gaffer sacked.

Villa aren't exactly your prototype attacking team. I'd hate to see O'Neill here. That said I would love Rafa to start having us play decent football, I dislike the way we play right now.

He has a reputation for slightly agricultural football, but I think you're being a bit harsh, Villa have played some decent football this season.
