Can one of you lovely people point me in the direction of a cheapish router thingy, which will allow me to connect to Xbox Live?

 

I'm on Tiscali, so have a usb modem connected to what is now a Tiscali phone line (was BT a week ago.) So far, I've fathomed that it's a router I need, and that wireless would be nice. Can you hard wire the PC into it, and have the xbox on the wireless connection?

Ive a D-link router, wireless to my laptop but can be hard wired no problem. Bought the x-box wirless thingy (50 fucking quid) and it works mint.

Don't some wireless routers come with a usb dongle wireless job? Will that not work?

Aye but you only need to use it if your pc/laptop doesnt have wireless built in.

It very much doesn't. I meant for the xbox though, or have they fiddled it so you have to buy one of their £50 ones?

I've had a look at some reviews and apparently you need the Xbox specific device. It is a good quality product by all accounts but has anyone seen it any cheaper than £55 because that is a fortune really?

It can cost quite a bit to get it set up for wireless. I have my computer right by, so its ok for me.

Best to get a router and hook it up via the ethernet port (wired).

Brilliant advice, but I fear that with the Xbox being in another room to the router it is useless.

My xbox is connected via wireless receiver thing. Although I have no idea how it was set up.

I have Netgear Wireless router, which provides an internet connection to my laptop. Do I have to get another router to get xbox live? I don't have a clue how this thing works.
