Richard Hawley

One of the weirdest recent tv programmes ever was a crime one with the ' bent coppers' Irish guy from Line of Duty as a part owner of a jazz club in Sheffield , basically so he could murder a different Richard Hawley tune at the end of each show, Saw an interview where he admitted he just loved Hawley and just insisted on this as a deal breaker or he wouldn't sign up.

Just to be annoying I will point out one you missed - The Zutons. I actually voted the same way as you though Stig and would have done so even if The Zutons had been an option.

Their 2nd album was boss

Only heard about this band when the lead singer passed away a while ago. One for some of our more senior posters?

Also stumbled across this.

Virgin Dance, number 52 on the list were a Skem band who were decent live. Saw them a few times.

They brought out an album called Against the Tide in which the songs were rearranged and spoiled imo, far too soft.

The drummer, Cliff Hewitt was in a band called Modern Eon before Virgin Dance and they were pretty good.

I heard he's gone on to work with the likes of Apollo 440, Jean Michel Jarre and Tangerine Dream since.

The singer, Edwin Hind went on to form another band called Picnic at the Whitehouse and went on to star in a Coca Cola advert circa 1988/90.

Good stuff mate, thanks for that.

Peter Hooton does a Liverpool music tour now visiting old places and talking about the different scenes.

Some great stuff on that playlist - I used to watch Cook Da books regularly, and some of the bands on that list too

I used to love going to watch Afraid of Mice/Two's A Crowd led by the local legend Phil Jones - he used to fill the Empire and the Royal Court and was almost the next big thing.  A bit of a cocky bastard back in the day, but you need bit of that.
