pop is short for "popular music". That's a fact, but feel free to disagree. Big Star were ok imo.

Big Star were significantly more than OK, in my opinion. But there you go.

Of course, "pop" means "popular music". In one sense. But not - depending on the season - when Garth Brooks, Luciano Pavarotti, or Public Enemy are selling the most music. Right?

In any event, I tend to think of "pop" as a genre of music. Difficult enough to pin down as such...

Yeah, what happened to pop? Did it eat itself as predicted?

I mean, seriously... "OK"?

Listen to his album Older, from start to finish. If you haven't, then you're missing out and you should have a listen and then pop back to the thread.

If you have, then you'll understand that he was a great artist.

Stop being cunts to win on the Internet.

I wouldn't want to listen to it thanks. But each to their own.

When it comes to music people have likes and dislikes mate. Not too many have ripped him apart on here. many have said that he was a legend for those who liked his work.

Exactly. Each to their own.

BTW I'm a fan of 60s/70s music, Pink Floyd, Beatles, Otis, Zeppelin etc... and I'm quite specific about what I like in general. But I'll always make an exception when something is good.

Learning something new when you're older is actually OK. No shame in being open minded. Shame in being a locked in mute, defo.

Fair point.

I just can't see how people can pop into a thread commenting on an artist they've never really listened to, other than the obvious tunes or the fact he was gay so.a book go..

I know a fair bit about Status Quo, but they were never my thing so I wouldn't get involved in that thread. Out of respect for those who liked them, and because I respect the fact people have different musical tastes.

Anyhow, the majority of this thread is the equivalent of people saying that they hate mustard even though they never tasted it, hate the Northern lights even though they've never physically seen them.. etc etc. Stop being Internet warrior brave ass wankpots. Base you're opinion on what you know or else fuck a donkey.
