Summer Transfers 2014

In all seriousness it comes down to details that nobody outside of Luis and the club knows. All the noise last summer was about playing in the champions league. It's not beyond the realms of realism to suggest any potential clauses are only activated if we fail to get into the top four. Who knows?

I seem to remember all the noise about there being a clause, in the contract he's just signed.

He's worked hard to stop doing stupid shit like biting, and fix his image, so going on TV and saying "yeah, there's a clause. It's £90m baby, so come and get me madrid or Barca", would knock him all the way back again. If there is a clause, then anyone who needs to know about it from his pov, will definitely already know about it.

Pointless worrying about it, till anything happens.

Fucking Code72. What a piece of work that guy is.

Sets up two accounts, one with the sole responsibility of repping the other one but it still doesn't stop him getting negged to fuck. He then gets banned and comes back as some joker called 'Killjoy' and sends me this PM about Suarez leaving this summer:

He get negged to fuck under that guise too and leaves, only to reappear as a Nigerian.

Brilliant.

Codes had more profiles than facebook

If we sign Lallana for £25m then I wouldnt blame Suarez for asking to leave.

Lallana's trying to build bridges now so hopefully we've fucked the idea of wasting £25million on him off.

From the BBC:

"Southampton midfielder Adam Lallana, who is with the England World Cup squad in Brazil, says he is disappointed that manager Mauricio Pochettino left for Tottenham.

Lallana, himself linked with a move away from St Mary's this summer, explains that he grew into the player he is now under the Argentine.

The 26-year-old adds he is looking forward to meeting new Saints boss Ronald Koeman."

If Luis Suarez had wanted to leave then he was stupid to sign a new contract. His previous contract was due to expire in 2016, so this summer it would have put the club in a very difficult position if he rejected a new contact offer.

He said there was no clause for a specific club. Very clear. There is a clause but it doesn't say if Real Madrid come in, etc...

Horus and moof have the right idea, nothing to worry about with Luis until there's something to worry about. It's fun to play the transfer game and imagine who we'd get/lose and how it would change us, but this worry about Luis is just masochistic behavior.

No way any of us know what his contract says. No point in building a fence and entrenching yourself on either side of it. Just assume Luis covered all his angles and us the same.

Why not? We snagged Luis Suarez during those lean years, I'm sure we could have got Shaqiri too.

Yes, but our main rival for Suarez was Spurs. For Shaqiri it would've been Bayern.

Young, highly rated players like Shaqiri are usually well aware of when the top sides are tracking them and will often hold off an early transfer in the hope of getting that supposed dream move. At the time we were nowhere near the CL and probably far down the list of suitors, unfortunately.

To be fair, we didnt have Spus challenging us either. Harry Redknapp and his mongs didnt think he could play upfront

If I remember correctly, and I do, Bayern actually only came in late in the day. He was set to sign for Galatasaray. I was fucking miffed for weeks. Then he joined Bayern and I didn't mind so much.

To be doubly fair, our opening bids seem to indicate we thought the same. What was it, £13m? We got lucky that window.

I always thought that was a spot of brinksmanship to get the big clubs chasing him to up their wage offer. It was widely reported that a host of top sides were after him. Gala usually pay well, and his threat worked. That's how I read it anyway.

As for miffedness (it's a word) I was more miffed when Affelay went to Barca as they clearly didn't need him, the greedy bastards.

Trying to work out if that PM contained a subliminal message about it's author, a cry for help perhaps, but whatever it is just won't reveal itself to me.

"Got the info from a mate who is a club doctor for another club with close connections to Liverpool, I trust him 100% and he would not come up with this unless its what he heard from someone he trust himself.

Madrid will have to meet the clause though if not Suarez will have no problem staying either, but he will prefer to play in white next season.

Please dont put it on the forum.

Ta."

Ajax needed to sell due to financial difficulties. We  were trying to take advantage of their desperation.

Plus he was in the middle of a biting ban, getting rid might have seemed like a good idea.
