Run that past me one more time?

I suppose his comments will give a quantum of solace to our neighbours.

I don't work in construction or the planning department but surely this has got to be one of the longest and most drawn out projects in history.

They've had about 3 full public consultations, had a backhander of £30m which has probably paid all the consultants they've hired. They've binned off the original architect, had an Echo article every other day about something minor that's happened, battled English Heritage and keep banging on about how it will regenerate a derelict Dockland. Yet they still need more consideration and want to do things the correct way.

Everyone knows it will benefit the city and revitalise the area. I wish they would just get on and build the fucking thing instead of talking about it non stop. Anyone would think that they chose the most difficult location possible instead of the East Lancs road or Gartson so that as many obstacles as possible came up to prevent them making a start.

So this is the funding option....they live in a Willy Wonka world.

How are we paying for it? (Genuine question - as far as I’m aware we don’t have funding in place?)

I think that will be announced once the planning permission is granted. Based on the stadium costing between £500m and £600m I am expecting that we will sign a stadium naming rights deal with USM for 10 years worth £600m, to begin when the stadium is ready and use that deal to borrow the initial money against. USM have already invested around £30m for first dibs on the naming rights.

Every club who announced a stadium before or after Everton have built it, apart from Valencia but at least they actually got halfway through before stalling.

"OK.  I'll see what I can do."

Against a newly promoted team that had a man sent off in the latter stages of the first half. My only shock about that cake is that it doesn't have the Villa game against us on the TV. One of the highlights of their season so far.

Their City game at home in 2014 and it would fly off the shelves

Surely, being Everton fans they would be at the match and not in the pub.  Thats redshite behaviour ?

I thought it would be the derby and the fans cheering in the pub with the screen image of Pickford wiping out VVD for the season and going unpunished. Let's face it  that's as good as a trophy for them these days.

By "these days" do you mean the last 25 years?

Once they get knocked out of the fa cup it will be 26.

Yet they still banter us saying we didn't win the league for 30 years. But we actually won every other trophy available in that time apart from the now defunct Cup Winners Cup.

We also won five trophies in that time that they have never won.

European Cup/Champions League

It's this "tainted title" stuff that amuses me still, our old mate Colin Rice responds to almost any Red who responds to his tweets with this and "we're still laughing at you" despite the fact that the title was won pre-Covid.  And they were, to a man, going on about how boss they were for being top of the league in a season that is likely to be mainly fan free for its entirety and is arguably way more "tainted" than the last.

Oh, and the sheer neck of them "bantering" us for not winning the league for 30 years, when it's 33 and counting for them.

Laughing at someone for winning the league. That fat twat is deluded.

Prior to their "Glory years" of 1985 and 1987 they won fuck all going back to 1970.

They are the only club I know who list winning the charity shield and being losing finalists in their honours.

In a taxi once, the driver told me what's up for grabs  a signed bottle of champagne by the losing Southampton side in the Zenith Data Systems final, wow that would be good I said

    • I have to agree. I’d like stats on every teams’ home performance this season. I suspect confidence is short in all teams at home, due to exactly that- no home advantage. Likewise, teams’ away form must surely have taken a turn upwards. We’ve lost most of our games in 2021, precisely because we’ve been at an empty Anfield more times than on the road. It must be a factor.
    • Last time I listen to Twitter over a player...   Got to be honest I hadn’t heard of him till we were linked with him but after reading and listening to everything about him I was expecting some sort of Xavi , Inesta type player who would dictate the pace and flow of every game with nobody able to lay a glove on him. What I’m seeing is a guy who struggles every game and more often that not is slow and ponderous on the ball and like the rest of the team looks a yard off the pace. As has been said maybe judge him next season but even last night we looked slightly better when he went off which admittedly isn’t saying much.
    • Yep.   I'd rather finish 10th and just reset in the League, if only with the current injured lads back.   See how Jota and Thiago go - with Virgil, Gomes/Matip (between the two of them, that's hopefully makes the "other" Henderson and Fabinho all fit again.   Almost like, forget this League season, and try and start again - the way we simply couldn't the minute VvD went down and others followed. (I know there was the Aston Villa result, but fuck that.)   Just start again with as many back as possible, fuck Europe completely, and see whether the nucleus of 19/20 can somehow climb the mountain again under Klopp.    FSG won't buy anyone, and let's just pray they don't sell anyone good.
    • As shite as we were tonight against Chelsea I fail to see what the difference is between the handball given against Ryan Bertrand (Southampton v Wolves )  and the one not given against Kante.   Happens after 1 min 20   https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=0wMdolT4_a8&feature=onebox
