The anti Liverpool media....again

I know this has been discussed to death but im just sick of this

I read this

Why Alberto Aquilani's Aston Villa performance merely confirmed his status as a £20million flop, by Oliver Holt - MirrorFootball.co.uk

And then I thought, the anti liverpool agenda has gone past the stage of being ridiculous. And its not just that, thats not even the worst, try reading some of that prick Collymores shite.

I know alot of people make the point that we shouldn't give a toss but I've gotten to the stage where the shite the media spout is annoying because the sheer number of dickheads reading it and annoying my fucking head is driving me insane. :wallbutt:

I often wonder should we be going on the offensive. Trying to raise the issue somehow. We'd probably come across as whingers but surely we'd have a point considering the amount of blatantly anti Liverpool articles that have been written.

The most ludicrous shite I've read this season - Aquilani has been great, bar tonight, as far as I'm concerned, and he will be a key player for us this season.

If I'm wrong, please feel free to come back and quote this, but prior to tonight I don't think I saw him put a foot wrong.

Yeah the Aquilani stuff is annoying. But it's not just that. Its everything.

The manager, the players, the club. Its just constant sniping from the media.

I honestly think somebody high profile should highlight this. I've seen Thommo getting pissed off with the likes of Merson and Le Tessier on Soccer Saturdays. I think he should just come out and ask "What the fuck have you got against us you cunts?"

Doubt it would do any good though. He'd be better off writing an article and hoping it gets the same readership than the likes of Holts shite does.

Edit - And i know some of the reasons they dont like us, but the crap thats coming from all sources of the media is approaching the point of being utter vile hatred.

He's only played about 100 minutes before tonight.

Even if he ahd been absolute terrible and got sent off and scored an own goal tonight, he couldn't have been called a 20m flop cos it's far too early.

Never mind the the bilge that masquerades as a so-called 'article' from the Mirror or as ever our old favourite the Mail with our BIGGEST fan (Harry Harris) disgracing himself YET again I believe with yet another LFC character assassination job - The BIGGEST laugh that can be had re the w*nkers from the media is actually against the second biggest w*nker of the lot from said media (behind that twerp Mckenzie) young master Stanley Victor - yep, the lad Collymore.

Had a look on Twitter yesterday as I was bored and for some unknown reason had got there through the Daily Mirror of all things - Anyway - the creature formerly called Collymore had apparently posted the following after the Arsenal battering for Villa on HIS Twitter page - ''Yes, we played very badly today but you can be very sure that we Will bounce back on Tuesday against Liverpool; You can be absolutely Sure of that'' So other than confirming what I've ALWAYS thought that he's other than being a piece of scum not fit to share decent folks air - it also shows that really he's NEVER lost his roots - he's being a Brummie at heart because he comes from there and clearly made his support for them PLAIN there no? (the royal 'we' no less) Thus ANY words about him EVER supporting us on that piece of shite radio station that once belonged to above mentioned biggest tw*t in the media (Mckenzie) is thereby exposed as nothing more than a sham, a complete and utter Total LIE - He probably has dreams of the goals he scored against us back in 1998 for Villa (the last time we lost there incidentally) and in ANY contest between us - never mind one worth as much to either club as for the CL - his bitterness, bile and venom ALWAYS comes to the surface. I can't see how he has the bare cheek to call himself (via his co-presenters) a Liverpool Legend ON-AIR!!!

The only thing legendary about Collymore at LFC was his fall from a very great height from having the world at his feet and ANYTHING possible to NOTHING at all and slinking off in disgrace to Villa - he hates us for what we've done WITHOUT him and can't get over the fact that WE wouldn't change for him (playing style wise) when he WAS here. A reprehensible excuse for a 'former player' if ever there was one and his attitude down the years has meant that everything he's got? He's deserved - that would be Nothing of course other than ridicule and hatred and if EVER anyone deserved it?..........................

NB: Well all I have to say re tonight is you clearly 'bounced' back didn't you? You bounced so far back that any plans O'neill had clearly took the ejector seat for all the good they did.

Incidentally regarding Aquilani? Best post I read elsewhere on it actually echoes my own thoughts and is rather succinct/to the point as well. Here it is;

''It was IMO Gerrard that kept losing or damn near losing the ball with his constant attempts at Hollywood balls or killer passes more often than not giving the ball repeatedly to packs of Villa players who just love that sort of giveaway as their counterattackers Thrive on it. Why didn't they get to thrive on it this time? Simple answer - Aquilani - I was very impressed with not just his ability to pass the ball well - but also the fact that he rarely lost it whereas Xabi in games like tonight's often used to run into traffic. Alberto didn't and I saw him holding off 2 and even more Villa players at different times and still keeping the ball - he also passed short at least as well as Xabi did (although his long passing needs some work), started moves off regularly and tried to finish them off - all until he got tired anyway. But That - that mixture of short and long passing, a partner for Lucas or Masch' who understands the meaning of the word 'pass' is what we missed during our awful run circa Sept' - mid Dec'.

That is the link that the midfield and defence were crying out for and that is the link that might just re-energise our world class attacking partnership of G & T upfront again. All in all I thought he did very well for a difficult game in what seemed like the Antartic and more to the point he complemented Lucas' defensive job and Gerrards quick breaks with his own passing and quick breaks (and holding the ball - he hardly lost it so didn't need to tackle to much and he gave it away only twice I think). In short Aquilani looks like he'll settle into the job he's meant to do perfectly well and God did we need that. It's about time we had the unique mixture of luck, defiance and grit that grinds out this sort of victory - here's hoping that like the Boro' comeback last season - this win sets the tone for what's left of the season. If it does, no-one will stop us.

NB Anyone who thinks we didn't control that game by limiting Villa to four chances only (two per half) on their own patch with at least that many of our own other than the goal didn't see the game. It was a classic European 'Away' performance adapated to the Premier League from us ala what Mourinho's Chelsea, Alex Ferguson's United and even Sunderland (this season) have all done to US. We controlled the match, the ball and the passing (it was 70/30 at one point FFS!! What's THAT if not control?), we allowed them the odd chance after our attacks broke down but in the main it was a steady wave of pressure that built up on their goal (orchestrated by Alberto and Lucas) and in the end broke down the door whilst when they attacked without set-pieces? We reduced them to the role of utter uselessness - they looked like harmless drudges.

What's more important is that we looked far more like the team we were last season (esp' at the end), dangerous, controlling and decisive (like if we got a chance, you just knew we'd score it) - We haven't always looked like that this season (esp' in our defending which in addition to the type of chances Villa had today has also given away far to many goals like the one we scored). I doubt it's a coincidence that our teams 2 best short passers (and one of its better tacklers in Lucas now lol -) were stationed in the middle and we suddenly regained the control of midfields that we've craved all season.''

Rather long but someone after my own heart there - I fully agree with that and think Alberto IS what we've been missing and that he Will fill Alonso's boots in his own right. I also think we controlled the match last night in the best 'European Away' tradition of Rafa' teams up against a hostile home crowd. Upward and onward!!! Next up Reading - then a bit MORE revenge on Spurs (here's hoping)................

Alberto Aquilani the nowhere man failing to fire for Liverpool

He is the man who is supposed to make the difference, the man who is supposed to ensure that Liverpool are a Champions League club once more come the season's end.

If Liverpool are to mount a second-half surge to retain a status which the red half of Merseyside considers its birthright, not only must Steven Gerrard and Fernando Torres stay fit, preferably at the same time, but Alberto Aquilani must become the prompter in midfield.

There are already too many peripheral players in the Liverpool team, too many players who do not need to be marked closely if it means paying extra attention to Gerrard and Torres.

The man supposed to make a difference: Alberto Aquilani

A cost price of £20million suggests that Aquilani possesses the skills and match-shaping talents to warrant similar treatment. Then again, Ryan Babel cost £11.5m so even if the Italian makes twice the impact of the Dutchman at Anfield, there are no guarantees of a Europa League place.

After ankle surgery left Aquilani without a pre-season or bonding time with his new teammates, he is only now breaking his season's stride. A lurching Boxing Day victory over Wolves was his first start for Liverpool, a trip to the snowy wastes of Villa Park the second.

The Roman did at least partly qualify for foot-soldier status in that he decided against wearing gloves in the blizzard. His failure to don a short-sleeve shirt, however, meant that Liverpool lost the hard men count by seven to six.

It will take time to adjust to the pace of his new surroundings, yet judging by last night's walk in a winter wonderland while a Premier League contest unravelled around him, the adjustment may not come this season.

Head to head: Aquilani (left) battles it out with Aston Villa's Luke Young last night

Liverpool cannot continue to build attacks around him instead of through him if he is not to become another Leiva Lucas - only without the tackling ability.

Within 90 robust first-half seconds, the Brazilian both drew a tackle from Richard Dunne which earned a yellow card and was then booked himself for upending Gariel Agbonlahor.

If the Lucas yellow card angered the Liverpool management, Rafa Benitez could console himself that there was no chance his other central midfielder would be booked for a tackle.

Going forward, Gerrard took every Liverpool corner and virtually every free-kick, the exception being a central 25-yard effort which Aquilani curled gracefully but harmlessly over the bar.

On the other occasions, he meandered off and stood in whatever place you could guarantee would be the last place to see the ball. No goal threat there.

The boy can pass: Aquilani plays the ball past Nigel Reo-Coker

Nor was there when he allowed himself to be dispossessed by John Carew when the chance to turn, stride forward and shoot presented itself.

With two of the three pre- requisites of a midfielder deluxe left unchecked for now, that leaves Aquilani's passing game.

The boy can pass. At 25, he is entering his prime years and his ability to spin the ball off either foot to a team-mate is obvious. The trick is to make it count.

A gorgeous 40-yard curling pass to the feet of Yossi Benyaoun was sent out at such pace that no defender had a hope of intercepting it. Had it gone even 10 yards forward and not to the far touchline, it might have added purpose to its unquestionable beauty.

A first-time clip to players breaking ahead of him hinted at a vision and speed of thought that will be a boon in the future, but for now, the man bought to replace Xabi Alonso is drifting around the Liverpool edges, so much so that he was replaced by Babel way before the thrilling climax.

Oliver Holt is a colossal prick. He keeps being defended on these forums for some reason, maybe he slagged Slur off once or something, but actually he talks out of his arse all the time. I'm just glad people are finally waking up to it.

I read the article and it's just the same recycled bilge about Xabi again:

And everybody, not least Steven Gerrard and his teammates, had begun to realise exactly how important Xabi Alonso had been to the balance of the side before he was sold to Real Madrid.

Holt seems to have missed the fact that our most impressive performance of last season, a 4-1 win at Old Toilet, was achieved without Alonso in the side, probably because it can't be reconciled with that heap of drivel he's written. He's just another ignore-the-facts-if-they-don't-suit-your-agenda journo, obviously.

Do you think Holt actually believes what he's written? Of course he doesn't, it's pantomime. You should all be able to see past it by now.

Its pantomime but its sickening when the pantomime gets played out every fucking day by the general public.

What I hate most of all though is the club just getting kicked around in the dirt by these cunts every week. I would love for someone high profile to call them on it.

In fact I'd just settle for someone doing an anti-collymore article where they call him on the shit hes been spouting lately. I'd live with that.

We've just won a tough match and that's the bullshit they come out with. Do these cunts have some sort of meeting discussing the best ways to piss us off before they come up with this shite.

They definitely have been sharpening their knives for Benitez. The worst thing that could have happened for them was us winning last night, but they've gone ahead with their pre-conceived agenda-driven codswallop anyway. They don't merit being called "journalists" for this.

Why wonder about the negative attitudes of "journalists", when we have more than a few posters here spouting the same stuff about the players, the manager, and the club they supposedly support, day in and day out.

About Aquilani, you probably could get most of what Holt wrote from this board, together with the usual simplistic comments like "Aquilani is shit", with nothing to support it. At least Holt tried to put it in some kind of context. It was not very pleasant reading, but it was a blog, a half-ass effort as most of them tend to be.

Aquilani is pretty much what I expected him to be, a decent player with a good potential to be very efficient with Gerrard and Torres. He has started two games now, we have won both of them. If that continues, who cares what anyone writes.

Oliver Holt is the son of that 'living dead' looking actress on Corofuckingnation Street, and I suspect he learned all he knows about football from that ancient thespian. He is actually a Stockport Cunty fan which, also, might explain his inability to comprehend the finer aspects of the game at the top level. And, to top it all off, he writes for The Mirror! I don't know whether to hate him or pity him. Fuck it - I'll hate him.
