Tonights Performance.

Lets face it, tonight we lost. Drew on the night, lost on aggregate; our dream of winning number six in Rome is gone. No dream date with Barcelona and certainly no Champions League final to look foward to this season.

 

As dire as the above might sound, what I can console myself is that tonight my team did not give up. Up until the last minute, there was always hope that somehow we might fight back from this.

 

In the beginning, it was all I ever wanted, a chance for my team to fight. In the end I got just that, and overall I saw what Shankly taught us so many years ago: The spirit of this club is immortal.

 

You cannot teach it, you cannot train it into your players, you cannot immitate it and you certainly cannot fake it.

 

It was unlucky that we are out but what I found out tonght was that this team can improve and go far. Dont forget Chelsea are the finished article, we are not. That my friends is a comforting thought.

 

I would like to think that tonight Liverpool has made all of its fans proud.

Being a Liverpool fan is the best feeling in the world and tonight proves that to me. For the next few days I am going to avoid the "ifs" and "buts", the what should of been instead of what has been, to keep this feeling intact. We are out of the Champions League, but the spirit of tonights performance will always stay with me.

 

The Liverpool Way is to never give up, ignore the odds and give it your best try. If you do that you will always be a winner.

 

Tonight Liverpool for me did not lose.

 

In my heart of hearts they won.
