Recommend me a first person shooter PC game

Now that I have, to my great sorrow, completed all the episodes of half-life 2, I need something to fill the vast void it has left. I want something similar. Preferably not just shoot shoot shoot, but a bit more drive around and, well, something like Half Life 2. Also, good if it isn't a completely new game, as my graphics card is not superb and the PC is 3 years old.

Jim, Battlefield 2. Aside from the HL franchise, its the best (online) team based shooting thingy ever made. Vehicles, jets, tanks, artillery strikes, UAV, its all there. And its a couple of years old now so will run on anything fairly recent I would think.

 

Apart from that, you've got:

 

Far Cry

Far Cry 2 (might be a bit too juicy for your machine)

Crysis (ditto)

Unreal Tournament 2004 if you want something more deathmatchy and violent.

And there's always Oblivion if you want spells and swords instead of rifles and bazookas. Oblivion is a tremendous game.

I can send you Doom and Doom 2 if you want them.

 

F.E.A.R. is pretty boss. Very atmospheric. A bit story driven rather than shooting driven, but still an excellent gaming experience.

Fallout 3 is depriving me of a lot of sleep at the moment. Your card may struggle but you could probably upgrade your graphics card quite cheaply now.

 

One game that would definitely work on your PC if you like WW2 first person shooters is Red Orchestra - that is an ace game and very addictive.

I'd definitely go with one of them; you'll need a pretty high spec machine but they blow pretty much everything else around out of the water.

Left 4 Dead is just pure shooting carnage...absolutely no skill or strategy required.

 

Call of Duty, Brothers in Arms and Medal of Honour games rock.
