I thought the first post was of an opposed piston engine but it is actually a double acting engine so technically has three pistons per cylinder (some would even argue that it has four) and is 14 metres high so won't be inside any train engines.

Hmmmmm, I can almost smell it.

I've posted a few of these before - Paul Allen (Microsoft zillionaire) has a private museum just over the border between Seattle and Vancouver in Everett, WA.

Flying Heritage Collection - Home

He has the largest collection of flying WW2 aircraft in the world, and their recent addition is a F6F-5 Hellcat, which is an absolutely amazing aircraft.

Here is its maiden test flight this week...

They do 'flight days' all summer where the public can watch all sorts of combinations of planes flying. Incredible to see.

I'd be the same, stuff like that. Old racing cars etc.

But make them all available to be seen and heard by people. Far too many things disappear off into collections where no one else gets to enjoy them.

Also Jaguar V12

Jump to about 3:10 to hear the XJ13 starting up on the second video.

Yeah I like that as well.

I get loads of people who seem to think I like all cars because I do stuff with them.

I only really like old cars and rally cars. Modern cars are just white goods as far as I am concerned and even the nice stuff that I get a chance to drive is just a bit dull.

I think the beauty of the older cars is,in some part at least, down to how well they made them with so little technology available and in some ways a bit off the cuff, almost from templates.

The fact that some have lasted so long is also a testament to how well some were built.
