The latest poll leads for Labour are crazy though, and in all honesty I still doubt that in an election they'd actually follow up and win a majority. 

 

Two years ago the idea of a Labour majority was pure fantasy, in another two years time it could equally swing back to the Tories having a big lead again.

 

One thing that has been really noticeable in the bits of mainstream media I've seen is that really want to stick the boot in to the Tories a lot more than usual.

Was listening to today before and they were fawning all over any tory they could speak to and when Rachel reeves came on,they were trying to say they were as bad as the tory car crash.

The most mind boggling aspect for me is this narrative that the Tories will focus on fixing the economy. 

Quite what they have been doing for the last 12 years Is anyones guess.

I guess we'll find out. I heard that bellend malthouse on the radio before and he was saying how impossible it was for the OBR to assess this budget at this point because there's a whole raft of plans they haven't announced yet.

Pensioners in different position to those on benefits, Truss says

Prime Minister Liz Truss has just been on LBC with Nick Ferrari, who asked her about lots of the issues that will be discussed in our interview on air currently.

But on the specific issue of benefit payments possibly not rising in line with inflation, Ferrari pressed the PM on why she could guarantee help for pensioners but not those on benefits.

In response, Truss said it was difficult for pensioners to "adjust their income" given they are retired, noting that people on benefits are in a "different position" when they can get work.

But she adds that "no decision has been made on benefit uprating" which will "come in due course" after the government has looked at it.

I reckon some point soon they'll start waging war on 'pointless degrees' so they can add more young people to the warehouse and fruit picking force.

I genuinely dislike this painting kwarteng as an idiot. He's not. He's spent the early part of his career working as an analyst at a number of  top capital markets firms including JPMorgan and his buddy Odey's hedgefund. He was perfectly placed to understand the impact of his unbudgeted budget and absolutely knew how the markets would react, making his friends billions while simultaneously destroying the pensions of everybody else. It was a deliberate act of destruction and we need to stop laughing at him and demand he is investigated for insider trading, misconduct in public office and treason for a deliberate act of financial terrorism against the state.
