God! So much religious shite to put up with, the worst being 'highway' with that fat Harold Bishop lookalike. The new statesman was worth staying up for, that's the only decent TV I remember.

Dont be dissing Harry Secombe.....

All good until the stages of hell came on the tele and your world collapsed around you and school was just hours away.

Fuck school, it's like that now, you don't even get to crack open a bottle of Matey bubble bath as an adult.

There is not enough invective in the world to convey how much I fucking hated hearing the Heartbeat theme tune.

Thats when the dread descended and you knew that was it, it was over, school was coming.

You had about an hour before the shite was over and you were sent to bed to stare at the ceiling in bleak despondency knowing that tomorrow was waking up early to go to a place you hated.

Still get a Pavlovian response of deep ennui now years later just thinking about it, and it was shit.

The Maxi song must have done your head right in

There was some boss Sunday late afternoon/early evening television, when I was younger. Super Gran, Mr Majeika, The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe.

We had Tinker and Tucker with Willy Wombat,  Skippy and I think The Golden Shot in the late 60's and Black Beauty, Heidi, Tom Brown's Schooldays and Anne of Green fucking Gables in the early 70's.

On a more positive note the greatest 3 hours of the year were on the last school afternoon before the summer holidays.

Nah, opening presents on Christmas Day and the FA Cup Final (even if we weren’t playing) were the best. School was shite, so I hated every minute of it.
