According to the Palestinian elections, Hamas are the rightful government of Palestine.

According to the EU & US, Likud are lovely people, the kind we should offer preferential trading terms to.

It's a strange old world.

Exactly. Was this level of faux outrage exhibited when Thatcher met the Irgun terrorist Menachem Begin?

Corbyn was a back bencher totally at odds with his party leader. What did he hope to gain?

"that is absolutely the right function of using parliamentary facilities, to invite people from other parts of the world so that we can promote that peace, that understanding and that dialogue"

Yes, really, because it’s still there. If Hamas had a nuclear bomb do you think Israel would exist?

Fucksake.

Did you just try to prove a point by inventing some preposterous hypothetical situation?  Try harder.

(For what it's worth, yes; I think if Hamas had a nuclear bomb they would read up on what happens when you set one off and decide it's not in their best interest to bomb Israel.)

Everything rico says can be understood as the behaviour of a Sam Harris acolyte. Sam Harris is a secular Jew who believes in things like scientific racism and claiming a level of objectivity that allows him to handwave away all the inequality in the world. Anyone that engages him should be aware of this fact.

I’m in a thread discussing racism, but I’m a racist? Moreover a scientific racist. I don’t even know what that means.

Surely you can see the difference between meeting the IRA to express support for their aims and ideas, and meeting them with a view to ending the violence.

FFS Stronts, Is this serious? Or you taking the piss?

A big part of the success of the Good Friday agreement was the leg work done in the 80’s by people like Corbyn to open dialogue in order to stop the unrest.

That’s how you end unrest, by getting people to talk.

But who was he representing? He wasn’t in government and was a back bench London MP. I’m sure I’ve seen a video of a bloke saying he was a useful idiot and had no impact but happy to be proved wrong.

Margaret Hodge’s disciplinary letter is awful, the response is brutal.
