Shows the difference a class striker makes. Shelvey is the bluntest of instruments, and is easy to defend against. They're having it too easy. If Sturridge had been on, we'd be at least 2 up by now.

Painful first half, need much better performances from Enrique, Johnson and Shelvey, they've been awful.

We really miss having 2 forwards, Sturidge is a massive loss.

We also need someone on the left, nothing coming from that side.

Gerrard and maybe Lucas can come out of that half with there heads up.

Disappointing but plenty of time yet. Just shows that our best 11 playing in their strongest positions and we're a decent side but there's not a great deal of depth. Sturridge missing and the ensuing reshuffle and we look back to being very, very average.

Poor passing, no invention or creativity with Shelvey there. Downing's been the most attacking threat so far. Everyone else looks like they're on sleeping pills. Needs someone to create problems for their defenders. Is Enrique still injured?

Need a huge improvement in the second half, lots of silly little mistakes are making this frustrating to watch.

 

It the typical game when we only have one person suarez who can do anything up front. We batter them for a while we don't score then they start getting confident and come at us and score from 25 yards in the last 10 mins. Shelvey off and borini om

Johnson was fucking shit in the first 45 mins. Downing was prob our best performer. Fucking hell we miss a 2nd striker.

Bring on Borini or Coutinho for Shelvey. Henderson needs to play more through the middle. Again him and Downing have been amongst our better players.

Thought we might batter them, then heard Sturridge was out so thought it might be a bit laboured. Been the better team by far, but no real pressing in the final third. I'll take any win at the moment, but I think it might peeter out into a 0-0 or worse a 0-1 which they'll get on the break.
