On the last day of the season, we used to walk around Anfield with trophies, now they've got cameras and mobile phones.- Ian St John

 

Who has got cameras and mobile phones? The players? Or the fans? Are they a substitute for us winning no trophies? A causal factor? What the FUCK is he talking about?

 

It makes no fucking sense. Like much of what St John says.

St John makes it sound like Liverpool won trophies year in year out during his time here. That very much wasn't the case. As great as Shanks was, we'd gone about 3 years without winning a trophy so he tore up the team and started again with younger, hungry players. It took a further couple of years for the new blueprint to deliver trophies. St John just comes across as an extremely bitter person these days, and that bitterness often masks the validity of any point he's trying to make.
