It's just personal opinion isn't it, I don't think ahyone has actually stated they consider it to be the best ten films ever not just what they consider to be, anyway here's a wild stab at it;

1; Pulp Fiction

2;Goodfellas

3;Star wars

4;The Godfather

5;Pulp Fiction

6;T2

7; Radiers of the lost Ark

8; The Shawshank Redemption

9; The fellowship of the ring

10; Labyrinth

Citizen Cane and Metropolis? You can shove them up your hoop. I'd much rather watch shrek or shaun of the dead thank either of those "classics"

Not really a film in the traditional sense, but well worth a watch if you want to educate yourself.

Good shout there on Hombre amigo. The Western is a much neglected genre these days I feel.

Paul Newman - what a man.

Having spent months on flickchart battling films against each other I can now publish my top 10 films ever in order. This is quite a moment for me, I'd like to thank my mum & dad and god etc.

Ok here goes;

1. Pulp Fiction - just pure quality, have watched it thousands of times and chortle everytime, brilliant dialogue, charactors and Ms Mia Wallace. mmmm.

2. Star Wars - I just fucking love Star Wars pure and simple, so sue me.

3. Lock Stock & 2 Soking Barrells - similar to Pulp Fiction as far as dialogue, very funny in parts, great lads film.

4. Scarface - iconic lads film.

5. Return of the Jedi - I just fucking love Star Wars as I said.

6. The Sting - Redford & Newman arguably the best double act ever, great film.

7. In the Name of the Father - Real emotional outpour this one, loved it.

8. Trainspotting - Dark, hilarious and has arguably the best charactor in any film ever: Begbie. Name me a better charactor than Begbie? See you can't, so fuck you.

9. Fight Club - Ok another lads film. So I'm a lad, so fuck you again.

10. City of God - crazy film.

Beat that

negged for using the word chortle

I can't compare different genres, so I'm going to cop out and list ten comedies.

1. The Life of Brian

2. Blazin' Saddles

3. Way Out West

4. Airplane

5. Arsenic and Old Lace

6. The Producers (original version)

7. The Wrong Trousers

8. Shaun of the Dead

9. This is Spinal Tap

10. A Fish Called Wanda

I'm sure there's plenty more I could've gone for - but I reckon those 10 DVDs and a big crate of ale & crisps would make for a decent enough night in.

I, too, prefer the idea of doing it genre by genre...

Here are 10 comedy films that I love, but in no particular order:

Withnail and I

The Jerk

The Man with Two Brains

Braindead aka Dead Alive

Airplane

Dumb and Dumber

The Big Lebowski

Planes, Trains and Automobiles

Bruno

Meet the Parents

This was on TV last week so I sat down to watch five minutes and typically ended up watching the rest of it. New layers every time. Particularly enjoyed John Goodman on the latest sitting, an absolutely genius performance.

I'd throw in Old School too. For me it's by far the best of the frathouse type genre that so often falls short of the mark. Takes the Animal House template and updates it brilliantly. Great cast and plenty of tiny subtle little hilarities on top of the obvious laughs.

Off the top of my head:

1. One Flew Over The Cuckoo's Nest

2. Dead Man's Shoes

3. Cinema Paradiso

4. Back to The Future trilogy

5. Goodfellas

6. Where Eagles Dare

7. Somers Town

8. Synechdoche. New York

9. Spinal Tap

10. 28 days Later.

Could watch 'em all dozens of times over.
