Benayoun linked with Man City and Portsmouth

Sky Sports | Football | Premier League | Liverpool | Harry admits Yossi interest

Portsmouth manager Harry Redknapp has confirmed his interest in Liverpool's Israel international midfielder Yossi Benayoun.

Benayoun is reportedly frustrated at a lack of opportunities at Anfield, triggering a host of interest from Premier League rivals.

Manchester City's new boss Mark Hughes has been linked with the 28-year-old, but Pompey have now joined the queue for his signature.

Redknapp believes the former Racing Santander man would be a quality addition to his squad, although he is unsure of his availability.

"Of course I'd like to have someone like Yossi Benayoun," he told Portsmouth's The News.

"He's a top player. I don't know what the chances are of getting him out of Liverpool."

The former West Ham manager is also keen on Peter Crouch but thinks he cannot match the Reds' valuation of the England international.

"It's known I like Crouchie, too. But I think Liverpool want a bit too much money for him," he continued.

"If that's the case then we'll move on to the next option."

Yossi today has came out and stated he wants to stay here for the rest of his career, saying he loves playing at Anfield etc. And we know Rafa likes Yossi as a player. Id happily sell Yossi for the right price, say atleast £6m if the money was going towards someone of real quality. But we could probably get around £8m if theres decent interest in him.

Do you think Rafa would sell him for the greater good, or just sell him in that matter. I think he would say no unless the price is good. Personally I think if we sold Yossi then Rafa would swoop for Aimar who is a better version of Yossi IMO. The prices would be similar and we would be losing one player and bringing in a better tne for the same fee.

Opinions here people?

Both are bullshit.

I think the Crouch deal has been done for months. I heard back in December a deal had been agreed for £9m in the summer. And terms etc had been agreed.

Ya see, I hate this shit.

Yossi is better than Modric, Kuyt is better than Robben/Van Persie, Babel is going to be world class this season once he develops his first touch/decision making/stamina.

As I've said before, there is bound to be a degree of partizanship on the forum, but this myopic view of the team is getting some lads nowhere. Believe it or not we actually have weaknesses and denying that they exist won't make them go away.

Think he's a decent little player to have in the squad. Regardless of how we strengthen the side over the summer I still think there'll be a place for him.

Always good having a player that looks like a Bold Street smack head too.

never said anything of the sort.

not sure tho why saying benny is better than modric is so extreme. one plays for one of the biggest clubs in the world, the other plays for spurs and is hyped up beyond belief.

he's a squad player. you want to sell him and bring in a so called 'better player' who will be sitting on the bench every other week?

Yes, but the problem is that Rafa would sell to replace him with someone like Milner - and, I'm sorry, but I'd rather have Yossi warming my bench, as it were, than James Mediocre Milner.

And what is the point of turning down £9m for Crouch? Does Rafa really think he'll get more when the man can sign on a Bosman from January? Incredible. Our transfer dealings this summer don't seem to make any sense at all.

6 I thought. He'd need to be replaced by a similar player in the garcia/yossi frame. If thats Silva then yes, sell.

he cost 5.

we've got little to no money and the only way it seems we can generate it it to sell some squad players. as I've said before, sell the fringe players and buy quality, supplement the squad with the reserves and youth team.

manyoo won the league doing it 2 years back.
