Firmino Racism Allegations

I have found Hades opinion contrary to my own a few times, but im old enough to know that having a different opinion to mine doesn't mean that he is necessarily wrong.

I guess, if i am Tony Blair, he is Jeremy Corbyn.

I just hope that Jeremy Cornyn isn't in charge of our club, because he would surely 'rest' him against City whilst the allegation is investigated, protecting corporate integrity and not showing belief in our own player in the face of no actual evidence against him, and that would piss me off greatly.

I think Racism is such a complex issue. The Utd fans technically sing a racist song about Lukaku themselves but I don’t for one minute think that their intention is to be racist.

The definition of racism is:

“prejudice, discrimination, or antagonism directed against someone of a different race based on the belief that one's own race is superior.”

That song about Lukaku is more of a stereotype than racism isn’t it, purely by definition I mean? There’s no way the Utd fans are singing that song because they believe Lukaku is inferior in any way.

That's not the point here though, Brownie.

The point here is that Moshiri has made a point to impress a crowd, about someone who isn't there to answer for themselves and say otherwise, essentially saying "what could I do lads? He African, ain't he, believes in voodoo and shit, a shamen told him to leave, you know what they're all like"

Unless it actually happened, it's fair to suggest it's racist.

That’s fair enough, he’s taking the piss. But is he taking the piss because he thinks black people are inferior to white people?

Imagine the same scenario but the player is Rooney and he says, “I was ringing him to sign a new deal but he was out robbing cars”. That’s the same thing isn’t it? But that wouldn’t be seen as racist?

I don’t mean to come across as argumentative or (heaven forbid) thick as fuck here mate, i’m genuinely confused by it all!

It's another example of a stereotype reinforcing a prejudice.

Don't know the song mate. A racist act doesn't always intend to cause harm though does it? That song about Park eating dogs was racist though they probably thought it was just funny.

But by the definition of racism it has to be harmful if it’s something designed to express inferiority?

That’s what i’m struggling with. I’ve probably said racist things myself as jokes but there’s no way i’m a racist.

Does it matter? Being Liverpudlian isnt s race so probably not but it's the same thing in essence. Bigoted.

I think it really does matter yeah. Because the label of being a racist implies that you hate someone based on their race. So you could crack a joke involving a stereotype and then your life is ruined purely because the stereotype related to someone who was black as opposed to it being about a brummy.

It doesn't mean you hate someone at all. That's just a more extreme version of it. It can be based on ignorance.

I think we are on different pages on this one mate. I'm not really seeking to change your views, we clearly have very different ideas about constitutes racism. For me, it's more than just skinheads and bovver boots.

Fair enough mate, i’m not looking to enforce my view by the way, i’m genuinely confused by it all and i’m trying to understand other people’s opinions on the subject.
