In fairness to Oasis, they just banged out some catchy riffs with shit lyrics, the way millions of bands have done before and since. It's just a bit weird that from time to time the music media decide that one of these bands are the greatest thing that ever happened.  (See also The Libertines, Arctic Monkeys, etc.)
