I'm worried about the left side - Obviously Riise would have to start at LB now that Aurelio is injured. The only LW options are Speedy and Bolo, both returning from injury. Another option is the 343 formation with Bellamy on the left side & Kuyt on the right. I'm not entirely convinced by Pennant so stick with Finnan,SG,Xabi,JAR in the mid & the wall that is Carra,Sami,Dagger.

It'll be risky though.

442 - I don't know who for the left & right wings? Its then got to be Pennant on the right & Speedy on the left. The other positions pick themselves.

I would have gone with:

Reina

Finnan Hyypia Agger Riise

Gerrard Momo/Mascherano Xabi Gonzalez

Crouch Kuyt

Bellamy or Crouch was the only tough choice, Crouch won out because I feel his greater technical ability and the fact that he can receive and distribute the ball whilst being tightly marked will be a greater asset than Bellamy's raw pace. After all, running about like a bunch of cunts is one of the few areas in which Everton excell.

Since Momo and Mascherano won't be available though, I think I'd go with Tuesday's lineup for starters. Only thing is we will have to be VERY carful that we don't get edged out of things in midfield, in other words Riise And Finnan will need to be up and down like a whore's knickers all match, or else we'll end up lacking width and numbers going forward and protection when we're defending. I also want to see Agger taking the ball forward out of defence and linking up with the central midfielders.

Robbie must feature at some point and not just for a two minute cameo this time. Especially if we do play three up top, surely a naturally left-footed striker is a sensible option? I'd possibly consider starting him ahead of Bellamy; Robbie and Dirk drifting out to link up with our wide men when needed whilst Crouchy weaves his magic in the middle, although I think Rafa is far more likely to start with Tuesday's lineup and Robbie on the bench.

Either way, I'm reasonably confident.

Liverpool 3 - 1 Everton

Crouch (21) (Cahill 67)

Kuyt (34)

Fowler (77)

Pennant really worries me in a game like this. He plays in a bottle-free zone and you can't perform in the derby without a big fat pair of plums.

Just what i was thinking Paul. You cant afford to shirk out of any challenges today and Pennant will be an easy target for them.

Riise has been shocking so far.

Glad I am not the only one who thought that. Riise is the worst player out of all those who get a regular starting place. Having said that other players have been poor too, if I see another deft flick/lay off that ends up in bluenose possession I will throw the telly out of the window.

I know it's a Derby and it's fast out there, but still, our passing at times is woeful. Too many long balls, and a lack of general quality in our play. Like midweek, a touch of quality will rip the likes of these apart for a goal.

If a team puts us under pressure when were on the ball, it wrecks our passing game, the same thing happened when we played Arsenal in the F.A. Cup. We need to speed up our passing WITHOUT giving the ball away!

It's not Crouch, it's been Finnan, Riise, Alonso and Gerrard who have been shite. Finnan has hardly ventured over the half way line and Pennant has often been left to try to beat three men and Finnan has offered no support. I am mystified by the lack of substitutions too and that the only one has been Fowler.
