Judging by the early results this is going to be a landslide victory for Yes. Over 60% at least.

Good. I've always wanted to marry an Irish fella.

Up for it Rob?

Brilliant news, just fantastic. And if they can do it there, they can do it anywhere...

85% of people in Ireland class themselves as Catholic. 60%+ voting in favour of gay marriage. Surely that causes you to question the way you talk about the religious, and what they believe, and why they believe it?

Still haven't got it down here.

Mostly because the Liberal party force their MPs to vote in block against. Rather ironically.

So you've got religious folk voting for gay marriage, and liberal party MPs voting against it.

Not really the liberal party are a bit misnamed some are old conservative bastards, some are economic libertarian types. The conservative bastards have a bit more numbers so force the actual liberals to be illiberal.

You can get gay married in the British consulate though.

Even the Catholic Church was split on it. Many priests were saying they were going to vote Yes, and one Bishop said he wasn't going to tell his parishioners how to vote, which was a pretty big deal as it basically intimated his support of a Yes vote.

Looks like a 2-1 majority for Yes. Quite a proud moment.

I always thought objections to homosexuality, particularly from religious organizations, was more to do with the promiscuous lifestyle rather than the actual act of sex itself. One would think then that gays wanting to marry would be seen as positive and a rejection of promiscuity.
