Microsoft has unveiled the latest games console in its line-up, a more powerful version of the Xbox One called the Xbox One X.
The tech giant touted the machine's specs, including its ability to run games in 4K ultra-HD, ahead of the E3 games show in Los Angeles.
To be released on 7 November, the Xbox One X will cost $499, or £449 in the UK.
One analyst said Microsoft was keen to keep attracting hardcore gamers.

So once again we get ripped off on price.

The USA price often doesn't include tax, ours does. so £359 without tax. Buy that xbox in New York and it will cost you £541 which is £424 so still cheaper with state tax. Oh and it probably won't work, the xbox one uses a different PSU so they could continue doing that, the PS4 is UK compatible.

I agree though, we do get shafted.

Doesn't sound worth the cost to me. Well unless you have a state of the art tv and really care about a very slight improved picture. No dount thid will lead to more games looking good at the cost of actually being good

Games in 4K at 60FPS, sounds good to me. I've held off and the One bored me so I sold it, hardly touched it,. But just for Crackdown I'll buy it.

Being able to play all your current games is great too, I think they realised when you don't allow that it makes it a lot easier for gamers to move platform.

They need to get the rights to some games first.

They made a big play on 'exclusives' in this conference but in reality the have a timed exclusive on a few games a pile of indie platformers and puzzle games that aren't going to make you run out to get a 1-x and thats it.

They're really struggling for genuine top class exclusives like other companies seem to be hoovering up.

Isn't Crackdown just an Overwatch/TF clone?

Anthem looks interesting but seems like Destiny on the Frostbite engine.

I don't play that many games but maybe Overwatch is a Crackdown clone. in any case, it's the only game I'd buy a console for.

The size of the machine is an impressive feat, but other than that I was underwhelmed. I'll stick with my launch One and play Crackdown on that.

An abundance of timed exclusives and focus on multiplayer games didn't help MS before, and now they seem to figure that a box that plays them in a shinier fashion will do so. Meanwhile, they sit on things like the Fable franchise and can't figure out what to do with it.

I reckon this might be the year Assassin's Creed finally dies though. The animations are really starting to show their age.

Was massively underwhelmed by the Xbox conference last night. I thought they completely undersold the XB1X. The inside of that machine is outstanding for a console, and credit to them making it as small as they have, but despite the new cooling system, I reckon we'll hear about a fair few systems overheating, especially in the early days.

As for the games, they all look really nice, but again, I was mostly underwhelmed. Sea of Thieves was probably the highlight for me, looks like a fun co-op game with the obvious Monkey Island vibe.

Couldn't be more m'eh on AC Origins. For me, the series peaked at AC2 and will never be bettered.

Bioware's Anthem looked stunning, although it's as if they didn't really know what direction they wanted to go and just took bits from each of Destiny, Horizon & Titanfall and stuck them all together. Will need to see more gameplay to see if there is life in this or not.

The ezio series is fantastic

Took everything from the first game but cleaned it up. The story is superb imo and over the 3 games you really get to know the character. Youll pick them all up for under £10 for all 3 and well worth the money

Reminded of Haze as well but more in a early trailers have promise but it could be shit kind of way.

Expecting big things from Sony having been dissapointed by XBox and Bethesda so far.

For me, this E3 was always about what PlayStation would bring to the table. They currently sit atop the console battle, and by quite a distance.

It'll be interesting to see how hard they go with VR, and if they've got something up their sleeve in response to XB1X.

Not sure we'll get anything significant new games wise, they might leave it for PSX (They'll have to do something to top last years Gods of War/Last of Us 2 open/ and close reveals.

Doubt we'll see anything on Death Stranding (for a game that might not come out for 5 years they'll have to go under the radar at some point) or Last of Us 2, probably just more on Spiderman, Days Gone, and extended looks at things like Dishonoured, shadow of war etc etc.

Not interested by this and I watched the presentation last night as I was bored.

We're now on the 3rd Gen of Xbox One and no doubt new PS4 soon. Gaming consoles are the new phone manufacturers in that they come out with a product and within a year or two a better version of the same model is being released. I don't like that personally.

I'll stick with my 1st gen xbox one I think as it does the job, plus I'm not interested in having nose bleeds from sensory overload just yet.

Plus 4K will piss off the other half even more!
