Seems Kenny is looking for any opportunity to play Jamie which didn't help today. That said he sorted it out early in the 2nd half to get us the win.

Fair play to big Andy, he had a good go today and Dirk is the man for the big occasion.

It's marvelous beating the backward manc gobshites. Just to watch the purple nosed socialist knight of the realm struggling trying not to explode in his post match interview was priceless on it's own.

Thought we'd blown it when we went ahead and then sat back and let them equalise.

 

I was sure we were gonna lose in the 2nd half because of the sun. couldn't understand why reina didn't have a cap but it mustn't have been that bad because he had long enough to ask for one.

 

also couldn't understand why we didn't stand on de gea for all our corners after we got success from it in the first half. In fact I think we should do that against everyone from now on. we get about 10 corners a game and I think that's our 2nd goal from corners all season. Kind of sums up the frustration of our season: we discover a good tactic or good position for someone and then we don't do it anymore.

 

downing did my head in a few times. he pulled out of a 50/50 when he cut in from the right and stevie under hit a lay off to him but he got some crosses in and kept the liar at bay.

 

Carroll looked really up for it early on and put it in today. lovely flick for the winner for dirk and unlucky not to score from a very difficult angle minutes later. Dirk missed a great chance to end it then when he tried to stab the ball home with his right instead of taking it on his left.

 

Thought kelly and enrique both looked like they'd mistakes in them but we only got punished once. kelly did well overall but I thought he had a few moments when he took the wrong option. Jose hasn't looked himself for a few weeks and made a mistake for the goal along with carra who was nowhere near park for the pull back. he's supposed to be sitting in front of the cb's ut he went missing for the goal. did alright in there though. Stevie didn't look himself. There were gestures to the bench from early on and he wasn't taking many frees so not a surprise to see him come off.

 

subs changed it for us and final word for dirk who was waiting a long time for his 50th goal for us. what a time and a game to get it in.

? at your comments about Enrique. I said at the time we bought him that he'd be caught in possession from time to time as he tends to overplay a bit. He has been fantastic up to the last 3-4 games, probably player of the year so far along with Skrtel. An absolute steal at 7 million, and his pace is invaluable to us. Should have tackled today when he opted for his body strength (he usually pulls those off), but I'd rather have a footballer at LB with the occasional lapse than a "row z" type player... Follow me now?

yes we can agree to disagree but I think this is harsh. I don't think he hides which is what I would attribute to being a passenger. The best thing about him is his engine and that's a big thing for a central midfielder so if we can develop the rest of his game he could be some player. I know he's young but 2 full games in 2 days against the 2 best teams in the country speaks volumes to me. I don't think he was outclassed in fact I think he more than held his own.
