Youth team contracts up...

...who will move up to melwood and who will get released??

From what i've heard the players getting released possibly are:

Paul Barrett

Stephen Behen

Lee Woodward

Jon Pringle

they're pretty much definates but not too sure about the others. I reckon Spearing, Barnett, Putterill and Ryan may get promoted and possibly Burns to melwood but then again with rafa buying in all this youth, it could go either way, for anyone who is itnerested in the academy, what are your thoughts??

Pringle has already gone. He quit the Academy a few weeks ago. The others you mentioned went to the exit trials last week.

Spearing already has a contract, and I'm sure he'll move to Melwood. Putterill probably as well, as he's been in good form and has been in the reserve squads lately.

Barnett, Ryan and Burns are all good players, but I don't know if they'll be moved to Melwood. I hope so, but I'm worried for them.

Do you think that the latter 3 will possibly get kept on as third years like Barrett? How come Pringle quit the academy? I can't get my head around the youth football, if your good enough, then you;ll get moved up to melwood, if your not then surely your good enough for at least trying somewhere else out instead of quitting the academy and going off to work in some sort of crap job! Did he have a bad attitude or something or jsut fed up?

I think Barret is on trial with Blackpool for the rest of the season. It's a shame that he won't make it because i always thought he looked a tidy little player with a decent haircut. It just goes to show that in order to make the grade, you have to be outstanding. What about Anderson these days? Is he not progressing or just suffering from a lack of confidence?

Seems to have found a bit of form again, thats just reading the last couple of reserve outings.

Can someone explain why the constant fluctuation in the case used? Capitals just randomly scattered around, which is surely more hard work than just writing properly.

Anyone who could explain that pile of nonsense needs help.

Hmm, the hair comment raises an issue: has he been singled out due to his hair? Is there an unspoken rule that all Liverpool Academy atendees have to have a grade 1 shaven head? Or alternatively could it be that none of the players are getting the recognition they deserve and being promoted to melwood because they simply cannot be recognised? The coaches haven't the foggiest who is doing well or badly week to week as they all look the same, a fact the coaches can't admit for fear of looking stupid.

Hence why El Zhar and Paletta got out of there, they differentiated themselves with the hair.

JESUS! I've just figured out Mellor's Toni & Guy investment...how could I have been so naive?

if our US connections could give some of our local lads a career in the game even across the pond, coaching, playing whatever then that would be at least one decent thing coming out of the takeover - a few college sponsorships and quality education wouldn't be a bad thing.........perhaps thats a route we could take over here Rafa's banging on about no development between 18 and 21 - create a decent College league - affiliate the uni/College whatever to the club and ensure that players have a future even if its not as a pro footballer..........

I'm surprised more lads who get binned at the academy stage don't try their luck over there, they get a college degree out of it if nothing else. A few lads I used to play with are over there and they're getting treated like kings, everything's paid for and they even make a nice wedge doing coaching sessions.

It wouldn't be a bad idea to link up with a college over there for the lads who don't make it, it'd probably make our academy more attractive to players' parents.

Robbie Threlfall, Craig Lindfield, Ryan Flynn and Stephen Darby will according to liverpool.no be offered new deals. Rafa has also hinted that the youth players that playes in the reserves may be given some playing time in the remaining fixtures.

Would be a great boost for the young ones and a great motivator for more improvement next season.
