Yeah I noticed that. Also the Mail going big on trashing Sunak and pushing the Johnson comeback stuff.

From this excerpt I smell some exaggeration and definitely not the sensationalist headline the BBC are using to deflect from his finances bullshit.

But Mr Johnson said: "He threatened me at one point, and he said, 'Boris, I don't want to hurt you but, with a missile, it would only take a minute' or something like that. Jolly.

"But I think from the very relaxed tone that he was taking, the sort of air of detachment that he seemed to have, he was just playing along with my attempts to get him to negotiate."

The BBC News outlet are just in full-on propaganda mode at the minute, with senior employees caught in bed with the government.

God I'd fucking love, love to know what kind of discussions go on at Langley about Johnson. I bet the CIA have got absolutely piles of shit on him and his Russian links, I bet Ukraine are actively warned not to blab anything to him when he goes to 'show solidarity'.

Thing on the news saying some US general reckons we're no longer a top league fighting force and that in a conflict we'd run out of ammo in a matter of days.

Remind me again what Tories always claim they're good at?

Waving union flags. In Zahawi's bizzare and bitter resignation letter yesterday one of the two examples he gave for enhancing and improving the country during his time as a minister was helping ensure the Queens funeral went smoothly. The other was the vaccine rollout (which he also probably had very little or fuck all to do with).

Was he slagging anyone else in NATO off? I read something saying that at the rate of shell expenditure in Ukraine, most armies would be out of shells within a week or so. Too used to the odd high precision guided missile being used once every 6 weeks and the replacement being delivered through just in time logistics to a hangar a fortnight later. There's only America and its enormous stockpiles and military industrial complex, and Russia with its massive hoard of Soviet-era shells, who'd be able to keep up.

Don't get me wrong though. The Tories would look at 9 days' artillery ammunition in stock and think "we can manage with 3 days' worth can't we? Sell 6 days' worth to the Saudis through the private sector and open up to tender, and get a tip off to Old Horace from uni that there's contracts in the offing."

Maybe

I'm always amazed at how hapless we are though considering we spin ourselves as some kind of world power.

We nearly got fucked in the early days of World War 2 because, despite supposedly being a global empire, we'd taught the Japanese how to be better at naval warfare than we were (aircraft carriers? They'll never take off - arf) and were selling shitloads of engines to the Luftwaffe.

Then come the Falklands I think we had to take the Hermes out of a a scrapyard and use a converted cruise liner as a troop transport.

I served on HMS Iron Duke which was a Type 23 Frigate, I spent an afternoon on the USS Winston Churchill in Plymouth which is also a Type 23. The difference was unreal. That ship alone had more tomahawk missiles than the whole RN fleet. Everything was better, more hi-tec and no corners cut. They don’t piss about them Americans.

In Bravo Two Zero the first thing Andy McNabb and his unit do before they fly off is go to the American quatermaster tent and nick loads of gear, even though they don't know what half of it does.

personally id rather money was spent on things like hospitals, than weapons we are more than likely, never going to use,but there is a degree of irony in the tories being poster boys for flag shaggers up and down the country, when the pm was,at the very least, hugely compromised by a hostile power and they have literally sold of everything we own,to foreign companies.

It's amazing.

They don't care about any of the things they claim to care about most.

They lied to the queen and had a party the night before Phil's funeral. They've emasculated the armed forces, played fast and loose with the union itself, tried to undermine the law and slagged off the leaders of the Church of England. These are quite literally, all the things they claim to love.

And in the meantime, many critical public utilities and services can only be run by a government if that government is foreign, homes are allowed to be treated as investments by any old crook with an offshore bank account and non-resident billionaires are allowed to buy up the press. Very patriotic.

someone did a video on twitter the other day showing how the people in the 2 on going scandals are connected.

its like when Johnson does these High profile speeches, its simply to make connections,to make even more money.

Yeah I know what you mean with the JC but I think that was a genuine interview that Mann put his name to.

I'm pretty sure the Hermes had been sold to New Zealand but hadn't been delivered and we had to ask them if we could use it .

Another thing about the Falklands was the use of the Royal Yacht Britannia which we were assured in the event of war would be converted to a hospital ship but surprise surprise when the conflict started it was discovered that it wasn't big enough so eventually we used the Uganda
