Damned if he does etc.... Give the guy a chance lads. A lot of the current squad aren't that bothered to work hard enough and all you can ask of a player is to give his all. Gimme a 7 out of 10 who works his balls off than a shirking prima Donna

Happy to give him a chance, he seems a bit hesitant to take on the responsibility and the pressure of being a Liverpool striker though. Nevertheless, I wish him all the best.

Not sure I'm with you here. I'd rather someone who thinks he is deserving of being here, someone who's ready to take on the responsibility of being a Liverpool striker. Put it this way, Suarez wouldn't pick a high number.

He knows he's not as talented as Suarez are. If he has the attitude and determination that Suarez has.. That'll be enough already.

No it won't. For all Suarez' attitude and determination, it was his ruthless confidence on the ball that made him great. Hard work without the skill won't get you anywhere. It works the other way around but you can't really teach skill.

What??? Suarez was such an excellent player, simply because he had the raw talent, confidence AND the "fighter" attitude that made him the player he is.

Its refreshing to see humility in a player who understands that stepping into the shoes of players who had more talent than him is incredibly tough. (Gerrard, Owens, Fowler)

Why is anyone complaining in the first place???

I wasn't *really* complaining. I was only stating that his attitude is atypical of past successful liverpool strikers e.g., Owen, Torres, Fowler, Suarez, even Collymore. I'd rather us signing someone who has that supreme confidence in his own ability to be Liverpool's no. 1 striker, as opposed to someone who thinks he's made it just by playing for Liverpool e.g.,  Downing, Adams, Keane, Lambert. Who knows, he could be brilliant.

I'll say Firmino would be that player who would fit your requirements.

It's a good point but Borini and Balotelli are both like what you describe and they're both shit. Your probably reading a bit too much into the significance of it, although psychologically your right in what your saying.

i just don't think him taking a shirt or refusing it will have any bearing on whether he becomes a success here or not, it simply depends on his attitude and his work ethic as well as lots of other external factors like whether he gets game time, the manager puts faith in him etc.

It could be seen another way that a famous shirt like our number 7 or number 10 is a reward after all the hard work, something to aspire too when he's pushing himself in training or at the gym and once he's earnt it he'll get it. He may never earn it, but that attitude shows humility and shows that he's serious about working hard, it's kind of the opposite of 'thinking he's already made it' if you think about it in that way.

You're probably right (except for the highlighted bit ;)).

Scored a good variety of goals for a poor side last season.

Hopefully he can score a good variety of goals for a poor side next season too.

I've been stung too many times to assume any great confidence in his abilities, but it's not too much to hope that he could at least equal the eight goals offered by Balotelli, Borini and Lambert last year.

Got some filthy Bitter mate saying we had to pay 15m cause Spurs put in a late bid of 12M. Shit stirring probably. Asked a Spurs mate but he's totally oblivious to it. Going on about them buying that Koplyanka dude. Told him his handlers are proper dodgy and to avoid at all costs
