Group I: Spain, Czech Republic, SCOTLAND Lithuania, Liechtenstein

You would think Spain would walk this group, and they most likely will. Scotland have a great chance for 2nd, as the Czechs lack the world class talents of players like Nedved. They still have emerging talents like Necid to call on, and the likes of Baros, Rosicky and Plasil are still there.

Group H: Portugal, Denmark, Norway, Cyprus, Iceland

Portugal and Denmark should be comfortable in this group, unless Norway manage to step it up.

Group G: ENGLAND, Switzerland, Bulgaria, WALES, Montenegro

England are favourites, but the biggest threat are the Swiss, who have a good group of players now, and a generation upcoming which won the u17 World Cup last year. Montenegro have Jovetic, who we know is a dangerous player.

Group F: Croatia, Greece, Israel, Latvia, Georgia, Malta

Croatia should bounce back from missing out on the World Cup, but it's not clear if Greece can make it because they are currently relying on the players they won Euro 2004 with, who will be well into their thirties by 2012. Unless they can refresh their squad, they could struggle.

Group E: Netherlands, Sweden, Finland, Hungary, Moldova, San Marino

The Dutch will win this group, and I think Hungary could join them. Hungary have a lot of talented youngsters coming through, like Nemeth and Koman, and have a platform to build on their good showing in the World Cup qualifiers. Sweden I think will struggle as they go through a transitional phase.

Group D: France, Romania, Bosnia-Hercegovina, Belarus, Albania, Luxembourg

The French are clear favourites and should have enough quality. If Domenech is still in charge after the World Cup, they will make things difficult for themselves though. They will also have to replace experienced players like Henry, Trezeguet, Vieira and Gallas. After that, the Bosnians will be fancied, as long as they can find the performances of the last qualifiers. They will be relying on Dzeko and Misimovic again, although Pjanic could really start to shine.

Group C: Italy, Serbia, NORTHERN IRELAND Slovenia, Estonia, Faroe Islands

Can’t look past the first two again here. The Italians will do the bare minimum to qualify as usual, and Norn Iron will most likely end up in 4th.

Group B: Russia, Slovakia, REPUBLIC OF IRELAND, FYR Macedonia, Armenia, Andorra

The Irish have their best chance of qualifying if they can get more than 3 points off Slovakia, and as long as they don’t keep drawing games like they did in the World Cup qualifiers. The Russians should be too strong for the rest.

Group A: Germany, Turkey, Austria, Belgium, Kazakhstan, Azerbaijan

This is the hardest group to call. Germany will be viewed as the favourites since they always qualify even when they are shit. If Turkey can sort out their inconsistency they should be there too. Austria lack depth but will surely be up for it, and the Belgians have a number of quality young players in their squad. If asked to choose, I think Belgium will go through.
