I'm decided to finally get a new pc snd have had a look around on the net and i like the look of the Alienware pcs.

Has anybody got or had one and if so was it worth the money?

The last TWO companies(TINY and Carrera)that i bought my pcs from both went bankrupt so I'd appreciate any advice on where i should buy my computer if Alienware's not the place to go.

I'm looking at paying between £1,000-£1300,00.

I bought mine five years ago from Mesh Computers I 'built' it online and it was shit-hot at the time for a good price, the service and customer support was good and its still going strong.

I know nothing about this area really, but we tend to buy all our big electronic purchases from Lee's (or John Lewis, as it is now) as their "Never Knowingly Undersold" policy means you won't get ripped off and they throw in free extended warranties. Obviously they don't have techy-nerd knowledge like a specialist would have, but I sometimes think that's an advantage as they'll sell you what you need rather than try to blind you with techno-babble.

Alienware are the nuts, but you are paying for it.

Find a pc with a decent processor, graphics card, good quality ram and a decent sized hard disk.

You should be able to get one from most places for about 60% of what Alienware charge.

Dont go to PC world.

Have a look at the standard PC suppliers. http://www.ebuyer.com, http://www.scan.co.uk,http://www.cclonline.com, http://www.komplett.co.uk, http://www.dabs.co.uk etc

Most of them will build it for you if you arent capable yourself

Mesh have some really excellent deals (the laptop on which I am now typing was one of theirs), although to be honest you are as well to try out some of the direct-from-manufacturer shops on eBay.

Aria also have some really good deals on PC bits and pieces, although we haven't bought any PCs from them previously.

A top tip though is *not* to search for "Aria" on google images unless you are free from prying eyes...
