Seriously, what in the name of flying fuck is going on with all these different lists? It's confusing the tits off me.

 

Who's supposed to remove what? Surely the point of that list originally was to show who had sent to who (or should have)? Now, when the names are removed, it makes it look like certain people should have sent to others...

 

We should have stuck with the original blue/purple list or used the list that RiS put up, but rather than remove names, highlighted them.

 

For what it's worth, Red Thorpey sent to me, I received it. That's cool. That's established. I'm not getting involved in any more lists, so someone else may remove Red Thorpey on my behalf if that is what needs done.

 

Also, i didn't send to Cochyn; he appears to be on that list twice.

CD2 review

1, Lust and found- bertie Blackman Not too bad this one, decent voice.

 

2, Broken leg- Bluejuice He'll be walking around with more than a broken leg if i have to listen to this again.

 

3,Love is only a feeling- the Darkness Just don't like them.

 

4, Soul Meets Body- Death cab for cutie Just tips along without really grabbing me.

 

5,Dawn of the dead- Does it offend you, yeah? Heard of these, catchy enough track, doubt i'd buy anything by them but they''re ok.

 

6, Save tonight- Eagle Eye Cherry Nope not for me this oldie.

 

7, Walking on a dream- Empire of the sun I know this and i thought i'd like this band but it doesn't do it for me, they remind me of MGMT.

 

8, Sadness part 1- Enigma Well i didn't expact this track, old one this, i feel like i should be getting a massage off a thai lady.

 

9, Here is gone- The Goo Goo Dolls Never liked this band, not my type of music.

 

10, Disco biscuit Love- The Jezabels He only loves you when he's on pills, yep i've been there before haha, not a bad song this. I like the name of the song.

 

11, Funky tonight- The John Butler Trio Yee haw!! Don't like the singer, have a listen to Hayseed Dixie for some proper Yee Hawing music!

 

12, The day i died- Just Jack Tis catchy but not my cup of tea.

 

13, Sundance Kid- Kent Don't know what to write for this as i neither dislike it or like it.

 

14, White blank page- Mumford & Sons Music aint bad but don't like the singer.

 

15,I'm on my way- The Proclaimers Aha, they're just great fun and i will play this loud when i'm drunk at the weekend, Och aye!

 

16,Black and Gold- Sam Sparro Oh no i really really hate this song, i even go mental when i hear it on the radio.

 

17,Caring is Creepy- The Shins Listened to these a few years back but i just couldn't get into them, not bad though.

 

18,UFO-Sneaky Sound System Nah not into this one, bit annoying.

 

19, Chocolate- Snow Patrol Really good song from a really good album.

 

20, Sweet Disposition- The Temper Trap haha i've been listening to this song on the radio for a while now and i'm trying to sort whether i like it or not, its funny its on your c.d, i'm not sure about the lyrics but it sounds great.

 

Right that's the second c.d down and only 2 more to go, found a few on it that i liked.

Here's my review of RiS' 'Sweden's Finest' CD:

 

1. Cobrastyle - Teddybears SHTLM feat. Mad Cobra

Great opening song, I could tell straight away it was going to be a catchy tune. To say I’m intrigued by the concept of Scandinavian Hip-Hop would be an understatement. I want more! Can’t make out a word of what they’re saying, mind. 10/10

2. Instant Repeater '99 - Soundtrack Of Our Lives

Got a bit of a late 90’s Indie feel to it, which is something I worked out all by myself, and had nothing to do with the name of the track. Nice vocals, decent guitars but it sounds like most songs of that era. Still a very listenable song though. 7/10

3. What Have I Done? - Anna Ternheim

Starts off with a nice bass line, and some strings in the background. I’m a sucker for the strings. The singer has a good voice. Good song, the sort of pop based stuff I would expect from a Swede. 7/10

4. The Sentence - The Concretes feat. Lisa Millberg

Tune. Nothing stands out in particular about it, just a really good song. 8/10

 

5. The Jacket - First Floor Power

For some reason the synth on this song reminds me of ‘Wonderful Christmas Time’ by Macca. It was an ace tune though. 8/10

 

6. Old Man - Friska Viljor

And then BAM, into an upbeat number, with plenty of horns in the backing music. Really liking this song, and hopefully the artist has more good stuff to offer. The best compliment I could pay this song is that it’s the sort of awesome, unheard song that they put on the FIFA soundtracks. Awesome tune. 10/10

 

7. The Opposite Of Hallelujah - Jens Lekman

The song title would indicate I was in for some sort of heavy metal, slayer type tune. But that couldn’t be further from the truth. An uplifting, melodic tune, though the singers voice is a bit shit. Still a catchy number, though it’s definitely got a lot to do with the strings, and the introduction of the mandolin near the end of the song. Love those strings. 8/10.

 

8. Music For The Girl - Kleerup

Probably the weakest song on the CD. Not much going on here, just a drab, boring song. Best I can say about it is that it’s under three minutes long. 3/10.

 

9. Heartbeats - The Knife

RiS makes amends for the previous shit song, with this. Funky synths, quality vocals. Just fucking sweet. 10/10

10. Everybody But Me - Lykke Li

Weird song. Not a big fan of it to be honest. 5/10

 

11. Fever Fever - Melody Club

I recognised this song straight away, but couldn’t remember where from. Turns out it was on the FIFA 08 soundtrack. It was one of my favourites off it aswell. Will definitely check out the band, as they sound like my kinda thing, from that whole synth rock genre. 10/10

 

12. Stupid Girl - Miss Li

 

Thought this was Paloma Faith at first (who, despite looking like a horse, has a brilliant voice), but it turns out it isn’t. Still a good tune though. Seriously though, it sounds like Paloma Faith. 8/10

 

13. Runaway To Elsewhere – Pacific

 

Not really into dance music like I was a few years ago, but I liked this one. Good choice. Not really much to add. 8/10

 

14. South America - Shout Out Louds

 

Bit of a slow start on this one, but it’s a great song. Definitely grew on me the more I listened to it. Infact, doing this review is making me like it even more. The lead singers voice reminds me of Robert Smith, which is always good. 9/10

 

15. No One Sleeps When I'm Awake - The Sounds

 

Really love the guitars in this song. Most rock bands who have birds as their lead singers are shit, but this is definitely an exception. A quick search on Google indicates she’s rather fit aswell. Cracking tune. 9/10

16. About You Know - Timo Räisänen

 

The original was a brilliant pop song, but this one does nothing for me. It’s just generally a mediocre cover song. 5/10

 

17. What Have I Done? - (Familjen remix) Anna Ternheim

 

Remix of a song that was on the CD earlier, probably better than the original to be honest. Really good remix to be fair. Another one of those that takes a few listens to really get into it. I’d imagine it was a big hit in the clubs. 9/10

 

On the whole, I loved the CD. Many thanks to RiS, who has shown me that there is much more to Sweden than Abba, fit blondes, good porn and Zlatan. Only a few songs that I didn't like, but I'll definitely be checking out many of the artists that feature on this wonderful compilation of Swedish brilliance.
