The trustees of the Ray of Hope Appeal will shortly be embarking on our next fundraising initiative for the appeal - the 92 ground car dash. This does what it says on the tin: we have written to every club in the football league asking for support and will be visiting each ground over the course of 9 days between the Blackburn and Fulham matches. Far be it from me to rain on anyone's parade, but is driving the length and breadth of the country, generating substantial amounts of terribly unnecessary pollution, quite the correct way to raise money for a disease that is at least partially caused by environmental toxins?

What next: a sponsored smoke-a-thon for lung cancer? :whatever:

Still, good luck with the fundraising

It's not caused by environmental toxins at all. Still, thanks for your support.

All done. Completed in nine days.

For info: I don't post scientific things when I'm not certain they have a factual basis.

study

Epidemiological and experimental data suggest the potential involvement of specific agents as neurotoxicants (e.g. pesticides) or neuroprotective compounds (e.g. tobacco products) in the pathogenesis of nigrostriatal degeneration, further supporting a relationship between the environment and Parkinson's disease.

Congrats on achieving your goal.

Now is not the time for a science lesson.

What the lads have done is magnificent. I think it's evident that they put huge effort into this and a huge amount of organization, commitment and sacrifice were needed.

A truly great and noble undertaking to help a man who helped put US on the map.
