Schalke 04. Just got to agree a few now.

BERLIN, July 30 (Reuters) - Schalke 04 have agreed personal terms with Liverpool's Czech striker Milan Baros, German sports news agency SID reported on Saturday. "We've agreed things with Baros and his agent," Schalke coach Ralf Rangnick told SID.

"He wants to come to us. We'll make a move towards (agreeing the transfer with) Liverpool at the start of next week."

Baros, 23, said earlier this month that he wanted to remain at Liverpool but manager Rafael Benitez has not played him in the first two qualifying rounds of the Champions League this season.

The European champions's asking price for the Czech Republic international has been a sticking point with the Bundesliga runners-up.

"We have time and don't need to acceed to Liverpool's demands straight away," Rangnick said.

SID said Baros, who is under contract at Liverpool until 2007, would cost Schalke nine million euros ($10.9 million

Time for Pongelle to step forward and prove himself. I wont lose too much sleep over Baros as his form was forever erratic.

I think Flo-Po was starting to show real promise last season.

LiKe you I think he can step up the void (more like a pin prick in a Rubber-Johnny ;)) left by Baros's likely departure.

Quick maths lesson for you, Rash: £7m is NOT twice as much as £6m.

EDIT: Let's take the mathematics a little further

Baros = £6m for a guy who scored 13 goals in 45 matches last season

Crouch = £7m for a guy who scored 16 goals in 34 matches last season

Baros = £461,000 per goal scored last season

Crouch = £437,500 per goal scored last season

Great. :wallbutt:

It is great Rashid, Rafa had decided that he wanted rid of the player the club has to get the most money possible for the player. As has been pointed out there is a premium on English players in England so the comparison of £6m to £7m is not wholly relevant.

As well as that in my opinion transfer figures are misleading these days as no detail is included with it, for example, the £7m may be £4m but we will give you £1m when he plays England games etc...

£6m for an established international and top scorer at Euro 2004.

£7m for a Villa reject and Southampton reserve team player who's had 5 good months in his career.
