I'm confused. What is there to pounce on?

I used a word that seemed appropriate for the act of searching through about 8 years of someone's tweets to try to find something that could be portrayed as in some way incriminating. "Trawl" seemed a suitable word (given that I was unaware of some fancy-arse search function, to make the process a bit less "trawly".) I'm still not sure I understand why the word triggers you.

"trawl synonyms with definition | Macmillan Thesaurus" https://www.macmillanthesaurus.com/trawl

You’re  doing it again.  I mean searching a Twitter account with 1 years worth of tweets requires exactly the same effort as one with 8 years of tweets. You just search the word. Like you have done on here many times. You don’t apply for all their tweets to be printed off and then have to spend days in a darkened room with a magnifying glass.

‘Fancy arse?’ - just like the super duper hi-faluting one on here? That you’ve used.  Loads of times.

You flatter me, Sir.

I had no idea that function existed on Twitter. And I wouldn't know how to search this forum for a specific poster's use of keywords; the best I've ever managed is searching thread titles.

So, now I know that it's technically easy to search, I'm happy to replace the word "trawl" with "search" - as in "isn't it a bit off to search someone's Tweets for the word "Jew" in a contrived attempt to smear them, simply because they posed for a picture with an MP?"

This is what madness is, isn’t it?

No mate.

Madness are an English ska band from Camden Town, North London, who formed in 1976. One of the most prominent bands of the late 1970s and early 1980s two-tone ska revival, they continue to perform with six of the seven members of their original line-up

I agree.  It’s Stronts fault for looking.  As he said, there’s always a tweet.

I guess they wondered if she’d ever said any stupid stuff.

Yeah, but why? If you see someone tweeting something inoffensive, do you ever get the urge to check whether they have ever tweeted anything stupid? And how do you decide what words to search for?

(Let's be honest, we can have a fucking good guess of the motives of whoever it was saw her Corbyn tweet and then searched her tweets for the word "Jew". Contemptible behaviour. But if some farting about with her mates at school is the worst they could find, then I'd say she's unlikely to be an anti-Semite.)

We live in a era where someone can serously suggest how you pronounce a word, implies you are a racist.

Logic left the room a long time.

I know it's old news but the most surreal aspect of the whole charade was that back in the 80s the 'loony left'were accused of giving 1 legged lesbian immigrants all sorts ,yet in 2019 the left were a bunch of mad racists and boris johnson was the voice of toleration

Surreal and depressing in equal measure.

Well something has to give because this is just perpetual Conservative rule. The Labour Party are a motorway pile up.

Spot on although a party too left isn't getting into power. At least we vote with a shred of dignity.

Didn't they have to break their own rules to admit him in the first place?

Yeah, he’s was a member and left to join up with more ‘leftist’ groups before rejoining under Corbyn after decades of not being a member.

Don’t know about the rule breach, could be to do with affiliation with a black listed group perhaps.

The way Starmer and his gang are going about these purges is the best guarantor for the Tory bastards to win the next GE or two.

That's not true and you know it. There was one scene in a film 51 years ago where some teenagers got a cane on the hand in exactly the same way that happened to millions of schoolkid's at the time and for years after. He's often said how much he regrets that directorial choice.

Bearing in mind the fact that your previous avatar got an Oscar for an on-screen rape, I don't think Loach is cinema's greatest villain.
