At the moment Sammy Lee is the only person seemingly on the coaching staff who knows The Liverpool Way. He's the only one who gets what it means to be involved in this football club. The new manager could do a lot worse than keep Sammy Lee involved in the club. I could understand if a new feller moves him on, but it wouldn't be the worst thing in the world if he is kept on.

If hodgson is replaced before the end of the season, I'd expect Lee to be kept on until the 'permanent' manager is installed. That's if Lee decides to fall on his sword with hodgson.

Once the new permanent manager is installed, I'd expect Lee to leave as the new man would want his own staff.

and in his role as assistant manager this season. What has he bought to the table?

Whether you like it or not The Liverpool Way died the day the league was fully commercialised.

You can't just declare that "he hasn't brought anything to the table". How do you know that whatever effet he's had has been negative? For all you know without Sammy's contribution we could be a few places lower.

What have you based that on? Do you stand on bins outside Melwood everyday carefully examining Sammy's training techniques?
Your quite right. Sammy's quite the master tactician when it comes to putting the cones out, and then putting them back in again.

He was nothing more than a appease the fans appointment.

If there's any truth to this storey though, I'd be surprised if Dalglish shipped him out.

I'm just saying he could be good for improving player morale.

Hodgson, for his part, remains committed to fighting for his post and yesterday indicated he felt he retained the ongoing support of Henry and Werner, though his remarks were anything but conclusive.

“I guess so,” replied the Liverpool manager when asked whether he believed he retained the faith of the club’s owners. “I spoke to the owners before the game. They wished me well for the game and sympathised with the frustration I felt after the defeat to Wolves.

“I do not know if this was a game we had to win, but we certainly had to play well. I know about all of the negativity but it does not affect me. If we had won on Wednesday night we would be right up there and I would be being asked about the Champions League. Because we did not, I am being asked about the negativity.” The 63-year-old is rather more adamant on the subject of his relationship with his players, with FSG believed to be concerned at his apparent failure to coax better form out of the likes of Fernando Torres and Steven Gerrard.

“I know when players are behind a club and behind their manager,” he said.

“And I know when they are not. Anyone who seriously suggests after watching us play in these six months that there are any problems on the front is being dishonest. I am satisfied that the team gave the performance they want, I want and the fans want.”

I have got massive issues with this part, and his I would have taken a 1-1 draw, comments today.

Does he not see it is a must win game, as is every game as Liverpool manager?

I cant help but think he has been told a whole load of shit when he took the job on, but he continues to believe it.

I am furious with his comments today, more than I have been all season, believe it or not.

What makes him think like he does?

Ultimately what can an assistant manager do when the boss is fucking up big time? Lee can't override any of Hodgson's decisions. He can give his input - which I'm sure he has done and wll continue to do so - but whether or not Hodgson takes it on board is another matter.

My point was - regardless of your thoughts about the commercialisation of the league - Sammy Lee is Liverpool Football Club through and through and that could prove useful to a new man coming in.

whereas you're suggesting it might be positive. All you have to do watch the games again this season. That would be classed as torture i guess.

Accoutability in whichever role you are in

I don't know what Sammy Lee is meant to do, or whether or not he's any good or not, but the official site has loads of photos of the players training, and they NEVER ever seem to be training with a football. The players should be made to adhere to the following mantra:

Tonight... you pukes will sleep with a football! You will give your football a girl's name! Because this is the only pussy you people are going to get! Your days of finger-banging your missus through her pretty pink panties are over! You're married to this piece, this weapon of synthetic leather-look fibres and air! And you will be faithful!

The deadliest weapon in football is a player with a the ball at his feet. It is your killer instinct which must be harnessed if you expect to survive in matches. The football is only a tool. It is a hard heart that scores. If your scoring instincts are not clean and strong you will hesitate at the moment of truth. You will not score. You will become shit players. And then you will be in a world of shit. Because Liverpool players are not allowed to be shit without permission! Do you maggots understand?

I'd love this to happen but my head says today's win may have bought him more time.

I keep thinking this too but the way were struggling to fill the stadium at the minute could well force the hands of the owners, its costing the club alot of money. Installing Kenny would rectify this problem immediately and give the club a and players a massive boost. He would command the respect of ALL the players.

This is is the point though. You're making an assumption that his input has been positive.

Even take that viewpoint, if you cant convince the manager of your ideas then what is the point of you being there.

useful isnt good enough being great at the job is? or just agree to disagree

The filling of the stadium is a big issue. That will have worried them today more than anything.

Our next home game is the Derby and then possibly a replay against the Mancs in the cup. Now I know them two games will probably sell out anyway as they are our biggest home games of the season, but to NESV, they might think they wont sell out if Hodgson is in charge.

I've been saying for ages - and to be fair, it's pretty obvious - the man is not a winner. Not in any way. He doesn't have a winner's mentality and that has been depressingly clear from early in his reign. I want a manager who can't fucking abide losing; someone is focussed solely on winning. Much as I hate them, you see this in the likes of Mourinho and Ferguson. Obviously what we want is someone with the club in their veins who has a winner's mentality but is more gracious than those two twats in defeat.
