can't beat the fungus seal of approval.

Do you not think rafa may have come across as a bit childish if he'd said 'even a bid of infinity +1 won't get him'? I suppose you'd still get the likes of you saying 'well that clearly means he values him at infinity + 2'

"Not for sale at any price" would have been fine, but your missing the point in that Rafa will probably land Mascherano for 20-25 million less than his own, albeit, excesive valuation.

I honestly think 30million would be great if we can get it, but i wouldn't think a bid of around 23-25million would be unfair for a midfielder who doesn't score or create and who's passing is average. Yes he is a destrucor and yaya toure went for 28million but thats city, were in no position and inter will know that, especially with mascherano making it so abundently clear he wants to leave. Obviously get as much as we can for him, but i really don't rate him as a 30million player.

On a replacement note i'd fucking hate to see scott parker here. I think hes a villa type player at the very best. I wouldn't mind seeing us go for Flamini, his spell in Italy has been unsuccessful and would surely jump at the chance for a return to England. I'd think due to him not playing that a bid of around 10m would be enough. He was great at Arsenal the year before he left and is still reasonably young, i think we could do a lot worse

Yeah, given the circumstances that sounds about right. Doesn't mean it won't be ridiculous and we won't be getting ripped off, very good deal for Inter.

What circumstances, he has 2 years left on his contract. this is inter who've just got the guts of £30m for a kid, who got £60m for Zlatan. the price is £30m if they dont stump it up by Friday deals off and he can honour his contract

For fucks sake for someone accusing someone else of missing the point you seem to be doing a pretty good job yourself. Rafa did say he's not for sale at any price and he won't land him for 20-25m less than his excessive valuation because he didn't put a fucking valuation on him. How hard is that to understand, now kindly stop missing the point.

Unbelievable, According to the quotes that Cantrell put up Rafa stated he wouldnt sell him even for 50 million, therefore hes worth more than 50 million according to Rafa.

So if he goes please kindly take the fee away from at least 50 million and thats how much weve been fucked by end of story, stop getting all erratic.

It's a figure of speech, stop arguing nonsense. He could have said 75M, same effect. The reason for the figure was simply that it was excessive and he knew at that stage that Alonso was going.

Javier Mascherano set to leave Liverpool after talks - Transfers - ESPN Soccernet

Javier Mascherano has been told he can leave Liverpool, according to ESPNsoccernet sources, having held talks with the Liverpool hierarchy on Monday.

Mascherano, who captained Argentina at the World Cup, spoke with manager Roy Hodgson after returning from holiday, having previously ignored the new manager's attempts to contact him.

A source close to Mascherano told Soccernet: "The talks were extremely amicable. It was all done in a very nice way. Javier made it clear that he wanted to leave a year ago when he and the chance to go to Barcelona.

"He was asked to stay on for one more year, he agreed, so now it is time for him to go. It was all very pleasant and it is now a question of the two clubs who are interested in him making an acceptable offer to Liverpool."

Hodgson held talks with skipper Stephen Gerrard and convinced him to stay, but has failed to convince Mascheran, who now looks likely to rejoin former manager Rafael Benitez at Inter Milan or seal a move to Spanish champions Barcelona, who are looking to replace Yaya Toure after admitting defeat over Arsenal's Cesc Fabregas.

Mascherano ready to leave Liverpool

Tony Barrett.

Javier Mascherano has signalled the end of his Liverpool career and opened the door to a potential £25 million transfer to Inter Milan by telling Roy Hodgson he no longer wishes to play for the club.

The Argentina captain’s future has been the subject of incessant speculation in recent weeks, a situation that was exacerbated by the inability of Hodgson to contact Mascherano by telephone while he was on an extended post-World Cup break.

But the midfield player returned to Melwood, the club’s training ground, yesterday accompanied by his agent, Walter Tamer, and informed the Liverpool manager that he wants a transfer, with Inter Milan, where Mascherano would be reunited with Rafael Benítez, his favoured destination.

Mascherano has long been unhappy at Anfield and has cited the homesickness that has affected his wife, Fernanda, as the main motivating factor behind his desire to quit the club he joined from West Ham United 3½ years ago in a move that eventually cost Liverpool in the region of £18 million.

Mascherano had been consigned to reserve-team football at West Ham before his departure so Liverpool will be looking for a sizeable profit, particularly as the 26-year-old has gone on to establish himself as one of the world’s finest holding midfield players.

It has been reported in Italy that Maicon, the Brazil right back, may soon leave San Siro, with a £23 million move to Real Madrid mooted, which could help to finance the move.

Rather than attempting to hold on to a player who has been unhappy for more than a year, who sought a transfer to Barcelona last summer and whose form suffered when a move failed to take place, Liverpool will look to ensure that they cash in on his sale.

Although Hodgson will be disappointed that Mascherano was not willing to give his regime a chance, he will recognise that of all Liverpool’s most coveted stars, Mascherano is the one whose departure would cause the least damage to his team while giving his spending power a much-needed boost.

Sulley Muntari has been cited as a possible makeweight in any deal between Liverpool and Inter, but Hodgson is also an admirer of Scott Parker, who was pursued by the club in January only for lack of funds to curtail their interest. West Ham have made it clear that Parker is not for sale, but should Liverpool follow up their interest with a concrete offer, it is believed that Parker would be keen to be given the opportunity to discuss a potential move.

Hodgson is deliberating over whether or not to include Steven Gerrard in the Liverpool squad that will travel to the Former Yugoslav Republic of Macedonia tomorrow for Thursday’s first leg of the Europa League third qualifying-round tie against Rabotnicki.

Gerrard has not featured in Liverpool’s opening two pre-season games, having spent the past week building up his fitness after his involvement in England’s World Cup campaign.

But with his squad largely made up of untried youngsters and fringe players, Hodgson is having to give consideration to the value of thrusting Gerrard back into action. “I would not take Steven Gerrard there just to play the last ten minutes as a substitute,” Hodgson said
