  1. Maxi deserves a start, even before he arrived to Liverpool he was prolific aganst midtable teams, especially during his Espanyol days. Seems to have good understanding with Suarez as well. The rest of the team virtually picks itself. We still lack depth in attacking third. Reina Kelly Carragher (Skrtel if match-fit,needs to form a partnership with Agger) Agger Enrique Maxi Lucas Adam Downing Suarez Carroll
  2. Funny thing Benny Onion left for Chelscum two weeks after Rafa got a sack, so where's the corelation between Rafa lack of man-management skills and Yossi treatment and his departure from Anfield, only Unrighteous,God bless him, knows. Perhaps higher wages and definitely better title prospects brought him there. The first rat who jumped off the boat, some people blame only Mascherano though. BTW, I do believe Rafa mishandled Yossi many times even tried to force him to leave, but that twas Yossi decision, not Rafa's,who wasn't here anymore.
  3. Injury free Aquilani having a stormer like against Portsmouth would be a real asset for the tema, pity is he hardly ever plays up to his full potential. I'm not sure he would of left no matter who the manager was last summer, but he definitely has self-esteem and in general psychological problem. His on his way out as we already bought Henderson, even though Aquilani is a far superior player in almost every aspect apart from stamina and work ethic of course. Some of you don't follow Italian game closely and seem over-confident there's no interest in him - apparently Napoli,Palermo,Fiorentina and Inter to some extent follow him closely. Hi didn't fit in Antonio Conte plans, who is adamant on playing a rigid 442. He prefers another enforcer or box-to-box-midflelder,that's why Juve keep an eye on Raul. And Ngoswilly - no way Meireles is an attacking midfielder:) Don't make me laugh, he is anchorman, can play also as an enforcer.
  4. Code's world is beyond me and I can't figure out where he takes his bizarre opinion from, but Trucker Paddy is one step higher on weirdness ladder. Code is easier to crack - you get what he means better, because he can spell at least...
  5. Apart from Insua, none of the above-mentioned cemented a first-team spot for more than a few games in a row, while Konchesky was a fixture for half a season and was to blame for as many goals as Insua throughout his whole Liverpool career. Unlike Konchesky, who got one assist, Insua got 4 and was a fine crosser of the ball. And Konchesky can swim in Dossena piss, who is a great attacking asset for Napoli - title challenging team, just like Notts Forest, but different division:)
  6. Gary Cahill has entered final 18 months of his current deal. Sakho indeed prolonged his stay with the capital club, while Hummels is yet to pen a new deal, which expires in two years time and contains a release-clause of just 8 mln euro next year. BTW, Nuri Sahin, one of the hottest property in German footie, contract has a buy-out clause of just 6 mln euro this summer. The bargain of the year for me.
  7. Mats Hummels,Gary Cahill, Mamadou Sakho are the ones we should be looking at. Benedikt Hoewedes, Neven Subotic and Ezequiel Garay at the very least.
  8. Fowler 9 As I see we agree more than we disagree, but I can't get my head around how you accept next season set of midfielders, which is unfortunately likely to happen. None of the above-mentioned is good in finding space in the final third, work in channels, just like Nasri,Silva,Iniesta or even Goetze and Pjanic - maybe Gerrard, but he will be more of a sitter like Scholes with passage of time I guess. Adam is quite unique, but a blend of Barry and Alonso - direct, not very mobile, slow and average at defending, even though very combative. He can dictate the play, but it will never be sexy football:) None of the midfielders from the above is good enough to be a first-choice anchorman. And only Gerrard, who turns 31 in two months time and Adam in some games, just like Maxi, are good enough to warrant a first-team spot. I find Meireles one-dimensional,direct and overrated. Very average middle of the park,no better than Everton tbf.
  9. Poor irony mate. Yes, I did watch Spearing today. I also watched Kyrgiakos in January 2010, Maxi Rodriguez in Espanyol 2004-2005,Fabio Aurelio chipping in a few goals in 2002-2003 and Poulsen during his marvellous time at Seville between 2006 and 2008. They're past their peak, had some good moments, but don't show quality anymore. Same with Spearing, who can play decent for one game and shit for all the other ones. Just like Maxi, who played well against Blackburn or Villa, you can't deny it, or Poulsen, competent at the Molineux. I bet after Braga away game you wouln't want Jay in your team, would you? He will never ever be a Liverpool level player. Keeping Lucas,Jay and Raul, with Adam possibly coming and buying one anchorman would make our midfield very Stoke or Newcastle - esque, don't you agree?
  10. Ridicolous, my eyes ache every single word I read from this post. How many CBs of international quality (I don't put Kyrgiakos or Ayala in this cathegory) do you think we need? 1-2? Ageing Carragher who turns 34 next season and our new aquistion from Skrtel and Agger money? Bullshit. Gareth Bale part speaks for itself so I won't comment on it. How do you know what Shelvey is capable of? To me who looks like a headless chicken with no ability to make the play. Neither Raul nor Lucas, even Gerrard can't dicate the tempo the way Xavi,Pirlo,Hernanes,Modric,Sneijder or Pizarro do so. Lucas and Raul can't protect the back-four,aren't typical anchormen. No destroyer, even ball-playing one, no metronome. Not to mention lack of typical media punta/trequartista like Ozil or David Silva. So,no matter how you look at it, we need at least 3,while you're ok with what we have. Bullshit again.
  11. Why nobody mentions Jay Spearing? He's average at best, a deep-lying playmaker in the mould of Whitehead guy from Stoke, far worse than the likes of Barry Fergueson,Nenad Milijas or even Ciaran Clark taking a deeper role in the middle of the park. He tops my list. Jovanovic,Cole,Poulsen should be dead-certs to leave. Aurelio,Lucas,Maxi,Kyrgiakos,Aurelio,N'Gog and very overrated IMO Meireles could follow unless we fail to find decent replacements.
  12. You're missing the point mate. You want to leave us with one first-choice centre-backs and several squaddies in this position. Pointless.
  13. MLB With Kyrgiakos likely departing in the summer and us signing let's say Cahill,we have Carra, who turns 34 next season,Cahill and a bunch of inexperienced CBs. That's a suicide, mate. With Cahill injured we have a heart of the midfield very westhamesque.
  14. MLB We scouted him quite a few times this term as he scored 21 goals in all comps despite some lay-off in the winter. I think a bid for Sturridge would be welcome as he has it all - pace, skill, strength, close control - in his locker and might find first team football chances limited at Chelscum. RVW will cost around 6-7 mln pounds I guess. Gameiro scored 11 goals two years ago,17 a season ago and already has 16 in a very average defensive-minded Lorient side. Still 23 and will come on a cheap, although Valencia are rumoured to have a bid of 7.5 mln euro accepted. Less talented than Ricky, but has an eye for a goal - reminds me a bit of Villa, has something from Gekas/Pantelic, too.
  15. Ranger,Van Wolfswinkel,Gameiro,Abel Hernandez,Osvaldo,Vossen,Falcao - a finisher like one of above-mentioned would bolster attacking options and add more firepower to our squad. We have a deep-lying striker, if I can say so,in Suarez, a target man in Carroll - we need someone clever in the box, quick and prolific. United have Chicharito and we need someone in his mould. Gameiro or Van Wolfswinkel, who entered last 18 months on their contracts, are best shouts for me.
