I thought we looked really good for the first ten minutes and got the goal. After that though, it's been very poor. It was almost from the moment Kirkland went down injured that we've struggled; I don't know whether it's due to that prolonged break, a lack of confidence or a conscious decision to protect the lead but we need to increase the tempo right from the kick off and search for the killer goal.

Gerrard has been very poor, Benayoun lively and N'Gog has done well.

Oh, and I agree with Ted in the sense that it's ludicrous to suggest that our fans as amongst the biggest problem with the club at the moment.

It's hysterical nonsene, in my view.

I don't really want to get in the middle of this. But I will say this: Sure the manager is paid to make the team play better, but we are supporters. We shouldn't need paying to get behind the team.

I agree, if you've paid to watch the team, then start singin your heart out, if you don't want to, just watch it on TV.

Ted, you think it's all Rafa's fault, I think it's his, ours, the owners and the players fault. Mostly the owners, but the fans should support the team when they are on the pitch, otherwise it's a case of 'we only sing when we're winning' and we are as bad as any other small timers.

As I've said before, they need more than our support at the minute.

Us singing FOAR isn't going to suddenly shake them out of an absolutely horrendous slump. It's a deeper lying problem than what's going on in the stands.

I agree with that. Fans singing isn't going to make this team play like they did last season. But Liverpool fans are renowned all over the world as the fans that are behind their team even when they are losing. When the chips are down and our backs are to the wall. Thats not what we are seeing lately though.

He has been very good tonight and pretty much this whole season. 6 goals in 15 games is pretty good by anyone's standards and when you consider that he has started on the bench in a lot of them it is a great record.

His hold up play is also decent now.

Had a text off my mate saying thats 6 goals in 8 starts this season, not sure if that's accurate but a good return from the lad either way.

What difference does it make what people write on a forum when they aren't even at the match?

No-one did

Yes they did; see below.

You are missing the point. A team low on confidence takes the lead, then, instead of being made up and getting behind them, the supporters, start biting their nails and muttering.

I'm an old get and first went the match in 1972, it was loud. No more, our fans are as big a problem as all the others we have. You wont like that because you only like to hear that the fans have an influence when we win an important game, but its the truth as I see it

If city, the scum the bitters the arse or chelsea were putting in home performances wk in wk like we have with the results we are getting they would of turned on the players already.

It's symptomatic of the fanbase surely. I go the match less and less but my experience is of people returning to seats 10 mins late, taking photos, complaining and generally as someone said being spectators.

If you don't believe that the internet has no bearing ongeneral opinion, well, i think you're wrong.
