Origi, Sturridge, and Mane together would be full of pace and I'd like to see how they work together. But if Klopp only wants one up top, definitely start the season with Origi. He played like he did before the injury in the derby.

Ojo, Origi, Eljaria and Brannagan.... That's 4 kids who will all eventually be first team regulars the future is bright.

We'll be lucky to get one regular from that list (excluding Origi beacuse he's not in the same bracket as the other three).

Agreed. Unfortunately looking at recent history, you're right.

It's not restricted to us, it's the nature of football, every year teams get a crop of footballers that supporters rave about and very few if any actually make it through to the first team.

Think back to that crop of young players at Arsenal who had a run in the Carling Cup. People were predicting a golden age but within a few years only Fabregas (who was signed and expected to be a superstar anyway) made it.

I don't have the figures for Football but as a comparison here are approximate NCAA stats for participation in American Football from Highschool to the NFL.

1,000,000 - Boys playing High School Football, of which;

310,465 - Go on to play as a senior, of which;

70,000 - make it to College football with the NCAA, of which;

20,000 - make it as freshman, of which;

15,000 - make it as seniors, of which;

254 - Get drafted to the NFL (with an additional number picked up as undrafted free agents but are unlikely to make the team).

Translate that to youth football and think back to all the players we've hyped over the years who ended up playing semi professional  or lower league football.

They might have the talent to make it (like Cresswell for example) but the problem is they need games to develop, and they can't get games with the bigger clubs, because the bigger clubs have no appetite for them learning (and making mistakes) on the job. One might think that it's better to abandon the youth policy altogether.
