Southampton Vs Liverpool

You'd think having Gerrard, Hendo and Allen in midfield would mean we can keep the ball better but this is the worst we've been in possession for a few games now. Saints are a very nice and tidy passing team sure, but they shouldn't be controlling us like this. Hopefully we can sort things out at the break.

This showing today is purely down to the shape of the team.

Luke Shaw is one of the best fullbacks in the league going forward and we've decided to leave him totally unmarked/untested.

The midfield diamond is too narrow.

Pull Suarez and Coutinho wide and we'll start controlling or at least competing

The way our midfield presses, they're like over eager puppies at times, barreling in at 100 miles an hour. One flick and they are out of commission. There's something to be said for cultured pressing.

But we were great at it vs Arsenal and Everton. God knows why we seem so clueless today.

Fcks sake. Seriously can we hook Glen, I'd rather Cissokho

We played with a 5 man midfield that day without possession.

We've got Suarez, Sturridge and Coutinho not defending when we don't have the ball.

That's the difference

Henderson, Allen and Coutinho are all very unreliable in their passing when the pressure is on. That's a big problem when we need to settle a game. And the less Flanagan sees the ball in the final third, the better.

so many variables in football.

southampton have had plenty of chances but haven't scored.

if this was last week against swansea they'd have 3 goals by now.

what a save by mignolet! How valuable could that be?

still need to score because I don't fancy us for a clean sheet

We don't deserve to be ahead its a huge plus we are by some miracle. Coutinho has to be hooked its the worst display I've seen since my primary school invested in a second hand computer. Get sterling on immediately. Don't dare do the usual of keeping it the same until they level then go ahead ill burst something.
