Report: Oxlade Chamberlain set to leave on a free transfer

Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain will leave Liverpool on a free transfer in the summer according to a new report.

With the Reds looking to revamp their midfield, the Mirror reports that Liverpool will not offer Oxlade-Chamberlain a new deal.

Now in his sixth season at the club, the midfielder has made 137 appearances scoring 17 goals.

It is hard to truly define the overall body of work that Oxlade Chamberlain has produced.

When he was at his optimum level namely in his first season, the man affectionately known as ‘Ox’ was a real asset for Jurgen Klopp with his powerful runs from midfield and ability to score and create goals. He was also a very solid contributor in the league title-winning season of 2019/20.

But on the flip side, he has missed countless games with injuries, virtually losing a whole season of action due to a very untimely ACL injury and suffering a number of muscle strains along the way.

And in a squad full of talent such as Liverpool has, once you lose you place in the pecking order it is difficult to get it back.

After every layoff, the 29 year-old has had to start again and being a player that doesn’t really hit the ground running instantly it has been more of a gradual process of getting back to his best.

So to narrow it down, he has neither been an out and out flop or a raging success. But while he has had his peaks and troughs, sometimes the biggest legacy is how you carry yourself away from the playing arena.

And by and large, Oxlade-Chamberlain looks to be a model pro who is very well liked and respected by his teammates and coaching staff alike.

As Liverpool look to move in another direction, there will certainly be suitors for his services in the Premier League with former club Southampton previously linked along with West Ham, Aston Villa, Newcastle and Crystal Palace.

Predictable the moment we signed him.  What a waste of time and money same as Keita.

Correct.  I would like to say I'm sorry that it hasn't worked out but it was a fatally flawed signing that should have never happened .

For balance, he was playing very well - and in huge European games -  before an horrific knee injury. He also did well last January when Salah and Mane were unavailable.

However, under our model, we probably can't afford for players to leave on free transfers. He should have gone in the summer for whatever fee we could get as he wasn't exactly central to our plans.

He can't pass, he can't stay fit, and he's a fucking womble.

Dozy twat be gone.

He'd be a perfect fit for a KitKat advert.
