Liverpool blocking Dirk Kuyt

Telesport of our Editorial

LIVERPOOL - The leadership of Liverpool, Dirk Kuyt (31) does not allow him to leave Italy this month. Fiorentina wanted to do business with the English club and the employer of Maarten Stekelenburg, Roma, asked about the ability to immediately take over Kuyt of Liverpool for the striker position.

Rob Jansen, agent of Kuyt, reaffirms interest in the man who in 2006 for 18 million euros from Feyenoord to Liverpool moved. "A large number of clubs in Europe has real interest in Dirk and it is true that there are clubs in Italy. But Liverpool Dirk not let go," says Jansen, that the cause of 84-fold Orange international will now again in the summer discuss with Liverpool.

Kuyt has an ongoing contract, but feels for the first time in six seasons as coach Kenny Dalglish unhappy him during the suspension of striker Luis Suarez as composing. Kuyt is partly because only one hit (League Cup) in 24 matches for his club. It is the lowest in the whole career of Katwijk.

Kuyt hopes again this afternoon to have a starting spot at home to Liverpool in the FA Cup cracker against Manchester United (13:45). A loaded game since the winter break during the meeting between the league opponent Suarez Patrice Evra for 'Negro' cursing and therefore was excluded eight matches.

Liverpoolhave made a remarkable bid to swap Andy Carroll with Carlos Tevez and move on their club-record £35m signing not even a year after signing him from Newcastle United.

The Anfield club contacted City on Thursday to ask how much they want for Tevez and whether they would be willing to contemplate a straight exchange with Carroll. Brian Marwood, the City football administrator, rebuffed the idea immediately, even though Carroll is a player Roberto Mancini has admitted admiring when he was at Newcastle.

The move demonstrates how Liverpool are now openly looking at offloading Carroll despite the insistence behind the scenes at Anfield that he can still play a prominent part and Kenny Dalglish's praise for the player after the 2-1 FA Cup defeat of Manchester United.

Carroll has scored only six goals in 35 appearances since becoming the eighth most expensive footballer in history and has not even been able to establish himself as a regular starter this season.

His problems adapting on Merseyside have also left Liverpool willing to take a £10m hit on the player, with Tevez valued at £25m, though that revelation is hardly surprising considering his difficulties at Anfield, added to the sense that he has not always been fully focused.

Fabio Capello, the England manager, has already expressed misgivings about the lifestyle of a player who has managed only two league goals this season in 20 appearances.

Those remarks went down badly at Anfield, with Dalglish defending Carroll, but the questions will probably not go away until he becomes a regular scorer. Carroll's longest run of starts this season is three games and Marwood's decision was made on the basis that he could no longer improve their team even though Mancini has a shortage of front players at a time when Tevez's strike is in its 11th week and Mario Balotelli is now serving a four-match suspension.

Tevez is planning to return to Manchester next week now it has become apparent that Milan are not able to meet City's asking price and, unless anything changes before Tuesday's transfer deadline, his adviser, Kia Joorabchian, says the Argentinian wants to re-establish himself in the team.

Whether that is possible remains to be seen, with Mancini not prepared to entertain the idea unless there is an apology from Tevez for walking out on the club and the string of other offences that have already led to him being found guilty of gross misconduct and losing almost £10m in wages, fines and lost bonuses since the start of the season.

Tevez is still a formidable striker and finished as the league's joint-top scorer last season, but he will be returning to England with a severely damaged reputation and Liverpool's attempt to take him along the M62 will surprise many people given his propensity for causing dressing-room problems and an apparent dislike of living in England.

There is also the fact that, approaching his 28th birthday, he would not have fitted into Liverpool's usual policy of buying players at a young age who will keep a resale value over the course of their contract. Liverpool, however, were willing to make an exception and City would have been glad to arrange a deal after unsuccessful talks not just with Milan but also Juventus, Internazionale and Paris St-Germain. They remain open to offers for the Argentinian but will not change their mind about Carroll.

I honest wouldn't be surprised if that was written this evening about 5 o clock by some manc supporting cunt of a journalist in an attempt just to piss off Kenny.

I find the timing of this story strange.

Not only that but it just seems mad, offering to swap Carroll for Tevez, we would surely know they wouldn't go for that.

We'd be better off just asking for him on loan and offering to pay half his wages for 6 months.

Yeah, cuz that would be a good deal for them...

Tevez Suarez and Bellamy would be dynamite as an attacking unit

It would be immense.

I don't think City see us as a threat, they gave us Bellamy - if they really want to get rid of Tevez they might agree - as they are short upfront at the moment.

I think they'd be stupid, but stranger things have happened.

Would Tevez want to join us?

I've said before I would love to see end of season loans for Tevez and Mascherano, they've both been playing about as regularly as each other lately.

They are hungry players and among the best in their respective positions, just the type of players we need more of!

We would get 4th with those two bulking-up the squad, depending on their fitness...IMO.

That is sadly probably true - still think they would rather be shot of him for good. Obviously he would be an immense upgrade for us and Tevez does not have a history of being in control of his destiny and, at this stage of his career (one last payday) and with his baggage, do not think he is now tbh. (Unless he wants to play it out in SA.)

Barrett?

Don't know mate just seen it mentioned on RAWK.

The timing is weird, if it happened on Thursday, why is it only being reported now?

Either the club is being run by fools or there appears to be some media based effort to discredit, disrupt and distract LFC...

I know which one I believe!

Yeah apparently the Guardian one was written by Daniel Taylor who hates us with a passion and loves the Mancs beyond belief and makes no attempt to hide it.

I love having Kenny back! The Liverpool Way is back!

These things scare the shit out of LFC-haters, they will do anything to keep us in the position they contributed to putting us in. i.e the strains that lead to Kenny's first reign ending prematurely.

These non-journalists can print what they like, I think it will encourage KD even more. Seeing Suarez's celebration showed me today how this evra affair has weakened us on the pitch, but strengthened us off the pitch.

KD will always back his players. If it seems a bit us and them at times, I think that suits KD. What KD has, no other living manager has, just as what LFC have, no other club could have.

This is a unique club, and KD is a unique man, a lot of people are frightened, as they should be. The club feels for the first time in a very long time like it is actually Liverpool Football Club.

Cant wait for Suarez's return!

Kenny said after the City game midweek talking about Bellamy "if City had other players they wanted to get rid of to give him a call"...

haha yeah I remember that, maybe just maybe theres something to it.

Stranger things have happened. But just can't see us having made that swap offer.

Man City reject Carroll-Tevez swap deal

Jonathan Northcroft

Published: 29 January 2012

Andy Carroll, whose outstanding performance helped Liverpool beat Manchester United in yesterday’s fractious FA Cup derby, was offered to Manchester City last week in a straight exchange for Carlos Tevez.

The astounding swap deal was rejected immediately by City as the Premier League leaders stuck to their position of only considering letting Tevez go for a transfer fee — with €30m (£25.2m) their asking price. Last night Liverpool categorically denied any such offer was made by their club officially and restated their confidence in Carroll as a player.

Who made the offer on Liverpool’s behalf is not yet known but it was taken seriously by City. If genuine, and City believe it was, the offer raises questions over Carroll’s future at Anfield. The striker, signed for £35m last January, had a hand in both Liverpool’s goals in a 2-1 defeat of United but he has scored just six times in 36 appearances for the Merseyside club and failed to establish an understanding with the team’s leading forward, Luis Suarez, unavailable for yesterday’s derby because of his eight- match ban for racially insulting United’s Patrice Evra in October. Evra was barracked throughout yesterday’s match.

Carroll was praised by Kenny Dalglish, his manager, for a dominant display against Jonny Evans and Chris Smalling, United’s centre-backs, and David De Gea, who made yet another goalkeeping gaffe. “He is good in the air but we have to develop that, he has to develop it. We will work with him and we will be a lot more patient than a lot of people,” Dalglish said. Some of Liverpool’s Premier League rivals believe that the manager’s enthusiasm is not shared by every decision-maker at Anfield.

Meanwhile, Tevez could face another gross misconduct charge and a further club fine of £1.2m. On December 22 he was fined for going to Argentina without permission and he has until Tuesday to decide whether to appeal against that punishment to the Premier League.
