UNE: English Premier League giants Liverpool on Monday launched their first football centre in the country in tie-up with Abhijeet Kadam Memorial

Foundation.

The 'Abhijit Kadam Football Development Centre', to be based within the campus of Bharati Vidyapeeth University here, will allow aspiring young footballers combine their studies with football under the guidance of Liverpool FC coaches.

The students enrolled at the centre will be taught a number of football related courses, which are to be delivered in partnership with some leading colleges in United Kingdom.

The courses include, coaching, refereeing, Sports Science, Sports Turf technology and Football Industry Management. Most of the curriculum will be delivered in Pune but students will be offered the chance to complete some of their studies in the UK. The centre will open its doors to students in September.

Cheshire-based international football company, Kickworldwide, and Bharati Vidyapeeth University here are the other two partners of the Anfield team in the project.

Liverpool Commercial Director Ian Ayre said, "This project brings football with first class education and an ambition to feed the Indian game. It's certainly an exciting start and one of a variety of key projects that Liverpool will unveil in the Indian market over the coming months."

The launch was also attended by All India Football Federation General Secretary Alberto Colaco.

It's where Lamb Bhuna originates.

This could also be the first step towards securing serious sponsorship from the sub-Continent. If LFC is viewed so positively in India, we could have Indian multinationals falling over themselves to sponsor the club. It's a win-win move.

This sums up whats wrong with the game today, why are the top clubs bothred about getting the market in far east countries, why dont they set up colleges in Liverpool!

a lot of Liverpool kids would give there right arm to have trainning from carra , gerrard etc for a day like they do when they go on pre season tours.

Likee all premiership clubs there not bothered about there fans in there own cities

Out of curiosity, did you read the article? Where does it say that they will be getting coaching from any of our players? The likelihood is that they will send over some of the academy coaches (or what's left of them).

Has Rogan "Josh" Taylor said anything about this yet?

Did you hear about the accident he had in an Indian restraunt once?

He was walking to the toilet, fell and hit his head on a table.

He was in a Korma for 3 months.
