I bet you're gonna love it if AOC runs for president in the near future.

Isn't she the one that said people shouldn't grow cauliflower in allotments because it'll evoke the colonial past of communities of colour?

She's a SJW of the highest order. Could you imagine the Rust Belt or the Red States voting for that? Trump will annihilate her.

No.

If something smells like bullshit, it's worth checking whether it's bullshit.

She argued that community gardens work best when they contain fruit and veg that's familiar to the local community.  You can watch the video of her saying it; or you can just go with the headlines from Fox News, Breitbart or the Daily Mail  - your call.

Here is the unedited video. The ramblings of a mad woman.

He was radicalised by Ben Shapiro

I was unreliably informed that Ben Shapiro, despite obviously being a hateful little far right gimp, was actually pretty switched on. Watched that interview with Andrew Marr and he came across as a massive window licker.

Adam Smith was pretty good.

Adam Smith would be considered a commie now.

A cultural marxist, leninist, stalinist, traitorous, extreme, loony leftie snowflake, social justice warrior that wants every country to be like Venezuela.

Can’t tell whether or not this is satire, but either way I think it sums up the state of play quite well

He believed that self interested people do more public good than people who set out to help others. He'd go down like a lead balloon on here. Probably be referred to as utter scum without any qualification necessary.

His economics would be a welcome move to the left.

Never read any Smith, but the most-often cited idea of his - the bit about bakers and pin-makers benefiting society by acting in their self-interest - doesn’t work with companies owned by shareholders. Nor does it work with companies who churn out wasteful shite that is harmful to society and/or the environment.

He'd have detested the current monopolies in society, and would have probably sued the Adam Smith Institute.

Why doesn't it? Aren't the shareholders acting on behalf of their own self interest and isn't the company owner acting on his or her self interest by going public in the first place?

He probably would've. He was much smarter than the Friedman acolytes running around nowadays.

The shareholders' self-interest is to make a quick buck.  That obviously doesn't correlate with what's best for society (because... well, why would it?) and it doesn't even correlate with what's best for the long-term good of the company (because, unlike other stakeholders - managers, employees, suppliers, customers, the local community, etc. - the shareholders can disengage from the company at the drop of a hat and never look back).

Edit - Ha-Joon Chang explains this better - and he has read Smith.

He speaks so fast most Americans can’t keep up. Another religious nut job.  Like Peterson most of what he says is bollocks.
