Like a modern midi system type effort

Right, so I want a sound system that will store fuckloads of albums and can be floor or wall mounted, or a table top type thing. I don't need it to be portable, I have an iPod for that. I want to be able to store loads of music and have decent sound quality.

What do I need to buy?

Thanks nerds!

Hmm, you can get good ones can't you, but I was thinking of a more static fixed thing, and also that has like every song that I might ever want to listen to on!

Yeah, that's pretty much what I was talking about. You can get really, really good ones. Bose do quite nice ones, but I guess it depends on how much you want to pay. Whilst you can get portable ones, the mains ones seem like the modern day replacement for what we had in the 80s and 90s.

John Lewis do a decent range. As do Amazon.

I believe that is just the input source, so you would need an amp and speakers as well.

Phillips used to do a range called Streamium which had a HD built in, but most of the newer ones have Airplay and then you can just stream from your computer / iPod / whatever.

What's your budget? I had a similar quandary and found most 'out-of-the box' HDD systems were overpriced and under-specced. I ended up getting a TEAC mini system and a pair Gale speakers for about £230 from Richer Sounds: plugged my ipad into it and now I stream spotify through it. sounds ace and its got CD player, DAB radio and all that to boot.
