Fella who works at my gym was a year below Roger hunt at Leigh grammar school, said he was a good player but didn't really stand out as anything special at school. Obviously his opinion changed when he played for us

My mate in Chester, Gary Talbot... one-time leading goalscorer in Chester City's history... is a mate of Rush's and was the photographer at his first wedding in the 80s.

 

There are some right good perms on display in those shots let me tell you.

The first time I met Rushie I was too shy to ask for a photo or autograph, luckily my brother was pissed and didn't give a fuck. 

 

He told him he was my hero and would he have a photo with me. The guy was a complete gent.

We were blessed with not just lots of great players, but more importantly quite a few gents - from Bob Paisley down - when we were arguably the best team in the world.

Ever since me and my kid brother were little we’ve argued and fought over who was better, Rush or Barnes.

We still can’t agree 30 years later and both still enjoy arguing about it.

We bought the more expensive tickets for the meet and great with photos and autographs for the night which was worth every penny.

I woke up the next morning and had Rushies book...
