so I don't think allegations of naked self-interest hold up. Besides, I think fair political representation is in all of our interests.

I accept that you believe that, that the Libs pushing Blair and Cameron isn't out of self-interest but is 'in all our interests' (even tho we've rejected it at a referendum). That's how people like you work! Your ego is so out of whack that it will do whatever it can to protect itself. And people with a messed up ego can do these mental gymnastics to convince themselves they're awesome, when really, they're just douchebags!

Okay, first off, let's get this straight: you rejected Alternative Vote in a referendum, not proportional representation, and you didn't do it for any grand overarching principle, you did it to give Nick Clegg a kicking for joining the Tories in government.

I am a democrat, so I believe increasing the amount of democracy is a good thing. I believe it is a good thing if more people's votes count and fewer votes are wasted. I believe it is a good thing if general elections aren't decided by a few thousand voters in certain swing constituencies. I don't really see what that has to do with my ego. Disagree if you like. I don't care.

Finally, let us just remind ourselves that of all the UK bodies currently elected proportionally (Scottish Parliament, Welsh Assembly, NI Assembly, London) the Lib Dems wield power in zero of them. So this idea that PR = Lib Dems in perpetuity is a total myth.
