Poor game. Uruguay showed too much respect to France early on, leaving Forlan and Suarez isolated. Things picked up a little in the second half, where Forlan should have buried his chance.

Suarez reacts to any challenge like he's just had his legs broken, waving imaginary yellow cards whilst writhing in apparent pain.

Govou has always flattered to deceive. Malouda used to be the same but has taken his game to the next level in the past year. Anelka looked up for it but was ineffective nonetheless.

The most impressive players on the pitch were Toulalan and Diaby for France, and Godin and Perez for Uruguay. Godin in particular I thought showed good composure in tight situations, always looking to play the ball out rather than hoof it, unlike Lugano, who is more alehouse.

I just knew Lodeiro wouldn't see out the game having been booked for nothing within 2 minutes of coming on.

Domenech is a crackpot.

That game was basically a carbon copy of the same fixture in 2002, only France completed the game with 11 players this time.

Eh, fairly disappointed in the Uruguayans, never really committed to any of their attacks, which is a pity as Forlan looked in good form but was left too isolated....maybe you can't be too critical of them for that as a draw for is probably a good result for them. I just think if they had of shown a bit more positivity and maybe grabbed that first goal then maybe France might have wilted altogether.

Is it just me(or the camera angle) or do the pitches seem very big so far?

Might just be that those two stadiums were the biggest so the pitches were bigger too. Was surprised to see this second match in another stadium that looked so much like the opening one, thought the rest would've been a fair bit smaller.

Bluenosed Lineker: '...and Gerrard will probably be playing on the left, in the position he's played so often for England...' Yes, Gary, mate: if it was Liverpool, you'd be saying, '...And Gerrard out on the LEFT!!!!!' 'Gerrard, not in the centre....um...amazing!' 'Well, well, well...! How extraordinary!!!!'

Uruguay were trying to fire a nuclear weapon out of a cap gun, they're still better than France.

they really aren't.

I watched i few of their qualifiers and if Forlan wasn't palying brilliant then they looked utterly lost. They have two good forward but nobody to provide any decent support.

France still have the makings of a good team but they have one of the worst managers ever.

Wouldn't suprise me if Mexico & South Africa qualified from the group

Was wondering about that during the first half, and it's the only time I ever remember seeing them. Knew I should've said Paraguay would be a surprise, not Uruguay. If they get a bit more space in their remaining matches and have more belief am still confident they can cause a few surprises.
