To be fair we used to sing 'God save our gracious team' in the 60's and 70's. It started at the 65 final v Leeds. First time Wembley had heard singing and chanting of the type which is the norm today. They sang it over the National Anthem itself while the rest of Wembley sang the original. Have to agree though this is not quite the same as adopting it as one of our regular songs!

Having a chuckle at those baulking at the thought of using the national anthem for a tune for a Liverpool player. First, it is more of an insult to the NA to be using it as a football song and second, it shouldn't matter what thre tune is it's the words you are singing that counts. Having said that I wouldn't use it as it's a dirge. Better use something like eh. Will ye no come back again ;)0
