To any normal club in any normal transfer window, Xabi wouldn't go for more than £20m a la last season.

 

If we sell him for £30m, buy an (admittedly inferior) replacement for £15m-odd and put the rest toward someone creative (Silva?), there would be an argument that we will be stronger for it.

I'd take Sneijder as part of a deal to sell Alonso. Anything over £20m and Sneiijder. Done.

I'd do the same, it wasn't long ago that Sneijder was a far more high profile player than Xabi. He would be a great player for Liverpool in my opinion. A midfield axis of Mascherano, Sneijder and Gerrard would be superb.
